Trifexis info please

Hi everyone!

I have a question Im hoping to get an answer on....

I have a almost 6 month old sheepie...I am giving him Trifexis tablet once a month. Have given it to him 4 times and twice he has thrown it up. Have a call in to vet, but am interested to know if anyone else is using this. Is there a certain "trick" to giving it to them? I have been spliting pill up into threes because he has lost most of his teeth and finds it hard to chew hard things lol, except my arm of course. Ive been giving it to him after his biggest meal.

This is such a great site and I have learned alot, so Im just hoping someone has a bit of an insite to this. He is also on frontline plus and thats doing what its suppose to.

Help! and thanks in advance...

Both my dogs are on Trifexis. Winston will eat anything we give him but Dexter has to have his completely surrounded in peanut butter. Dex has thrown up a while after taking his and the vet told me that if he chews it and throws up he is fine if he's had it in his stomach for at least 30 minutes.

I haven't used any other preventive, have never seen a flea on either dog and found one dead tick on Dex's foot about s month ago. I am a fan!
Tonks and Luna have been on Trifexis for about a year and are doing well. I'd first ask your vet if its okay to give to puppies; I know its strong stuff. They also say to give on a full stomach, and that vomiting isn't unusual in the beginning. They have to keep it down for an hour for it to be effective; if they vomit before that, you need to re-administer the pill.

I don't know about breaking it up; my girls hate the taste of it, so I pop it into the back of their throats to get them to swallow it whole. They aren't going to eat this on their own, the taste is too foul, I think. I also have a fishy flavored treat for them right after taking it- I think the strong flavor of the fish helps to take the bad flavor of the Trifexis away.

We've had great luck with Trifexis; it even deters ticks for us. Good luck!
Eevee will take anything I give her as long as it comes with cottage cheese. Bailey will take anything I give her, I don't think she even stops to taste it before she swallows it! Goofy dog.
