I'm a bachelorette this week

Dale is in TX working all week, so Sam and I are bachelorettes until Friday!

Even though it's just the 2 of us now that the kids are grown, it's still nice to get the house to myself every once in a while. Can eat when I want, what I want. Dale is not a veal fan, so I always have veal cutlets while he's away. Same for meatloaf. Have you ever heard of a man who doesn't like meatloaf?? Mine doesn't! Loves hamburger, but not in a meatloaf. So between those and one of those ready made chickens at the grocery store, I'm set for the week. Can watch TV when the shows I like are actually on (instead of having to record it because he won't watch it). Can go to bed when I want and I can sprawl across the whole bed!

Don't get me wrong - I miss him and wouldn't want to live like this forever, but it's a nice respite for 5 days! Even working a 12 hour/week part-time job, it feels like a mini "staycation"!

Just have to be sure not to break my leg this time . . .

OH, how I envy you!!! Like you, I love John to death, and wouldn't want it to be a forever thing... but to have the house to myself for a week... I can only dream :)

John used to go on a 10 day golf trip every May. It was my time to do whatever. I would take vacation that week-- plant my flowers, eat what I wanted, and just "be". Two years ago, the group decided they would just do a few day trips-- instead of going to Kentucky for the week.

ENJOY!!! The week will fly by!!!
Yep enjoy TOTAL BLISS !!

I love it when DH goes up to the holiday farm, usually takes one of the pooches with him and WOO HOO, joy joy joy, eat when I want, vegitate whenever :clappurple: , and a nice break from every day routine  8)

Yeah we are empty nesters too, go figure 21 plus 8)   and I love that time to myself :yay: Maybe I am selfish but who cares :cheer: :sidestep:

Go Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer:
I know how you feel. This is the first summer that Dale and I have been together 24/7. His company closed this year and I am off for the next month. My only break is when he golfs on Thursday.
I envy you having several days to yourself. Enjoy it. I would just like to sit down and read a book without being interrupted.

Bonnie/Carley's Mom
ladies,
just remember to smoke any cigars outdoors. this can cause future problems, even if you have the exhaust fan going. :cow:
Synchronicity for me with this post. 8O

We have just come home from walking the dogs and on the drive back I was wishing DH was going away for work this winter. He's needed to go away for a week or two the past few years. I do miss him but I love having the place to myself. And as an extra treat, last time he went away Lisa invited me for dinner and a movie at her place, so her DH had to put up with me and all the sheepie chat that goes on when I visit. :D

I eat healthier and lose weight when DH is away too. Sigh mental note to self work out at the gym harder to prevent winter lard accumulating.
I'm with you girls... I complain sometimes that Mr. J isn't here to help me out, but... it ain't ALL that terrible to have time to be FREE. Mine just left for 2 weeks ...but since he's only been home sat to sun around lunch time since summer started ....the 2 week separation does seem like long but normally I'd be buying another pair of pjs to break in :)

Enjoy your time "OFF" :)
I keep suggesting Kim should spend a weekend or two at her mum's. No dice so far. :(
I wish mine would leave again for awhile........other than hospital stays. With work he traveled regularly so I developed a nice routine when he was gone. Not any more. I'd settle he'd go someplace for a few hours each day.....nope.
That sounds GREAT. I have to admit, I'm really protective of my bed now that I sleep alone. If the occasion arises that I might consider spending a night with someone it's not happening in MY bed  Why would I want to ruin my nice clean sheets with someone else's sweat or... *shudder*... HAIR?! As for SHARING my bed??!! :twitch: Oh, HELL NO... I need ALL that space to myself 8) :excited: I never thought being single would be so enjoyable but I seem to have developed OCD and I intend to wallow in it..... after a nice shower :D
That's disgusting if your men leave hair in the bed. That's too hairy for me ;)
Very envious. 5 days and you only have to work 12.5 hrs? I work that a day.

It's a rare, rare, rare event when I have even a few days in the house to myself. And hubby likes to 'surprise' me by coming home hours early than he said he would. Opposite of when the kids were home and I'd be waiting and stewing, when he'd come home an hour or more late and I was waiting to go to the grocery store without 4 little kids.
All the replies made me laugh! I had dinner with a friend tonight that I don't get to see too often, so I was glad she had the night free. We sat at the restaurant talking for about 20 minutes after we paid - I bet our waitress wanted to boot us out of there!

When I still worked full time, his traveling really didn't give me much of a break because I had the whole house and critter care to myself in a day that felt shorter because of working 8 hours. At least now with only working 3 hour days, I can get it all done at a much more leisurely pace and still have time for myself. And for those who are envious of my part-time status - I paid my dues!! I worked full time for 38 years while raising kids before retiring. And when Dale is home, he works out of a home office, so other than when I'm away for a few hours each day, we're together 24/7. Makes this 5 days especially sweet!

3 more days!!
3 more days WOO HOO, enjoy Chris 8) :ghug:

Mine has been a couple of nights DARN IT

Mim when is wayne off again, we need a girls night    Even though you ARE a bad influence on MOI !!!

No, no, no David. You have it backwards!! You are supposed to go away, Kim gets to stay home and have fun with the girls.
Sheesh, come on, get with the program here. :D
Enjoy--your time this week!! :D
OK, how's the leg??

Sleeping in separate rooms is not a bad thing at all.

Mrs. J... Hair phobias?

What is Mr. J, a dolphin?
