Hot Summer! Any ideas for keeping the pup cool?

Summer is upon us and we felt it in Chicago. Hendrix was panting pretty much all weekend and was very low key. He stayed on the cool tile all day. We put a towl in the freezer and after his walk we put it on the ground for him to lay on.

Besides ice cubs and cold water, does anyone have any other ideas?

Air conditioning, lots and lots of air conditioning.
Bailey loves his Chilly Bone. It's a canvas bone with a sponge inside that you can refreeze. And when it defrosts it doesn't make a puddle on the floor. Check it out on Petco:

Have you given your pup a summer hair cut? Unless you're showing, trimming them down is a great way to releive summer heat stress!

Karen :)
He's not a fan of the chilly bone for some reason. He likes those rubber bones when we freeze them.

He's going for a trim on Sunday, hopefully that will eleviate some "dog days of summer" stress.
I like to keep Remy in a longer coat, but I do trim the tummy area down so when she is cooling off that is where it will help. Also a kiddie wading pool for them to wade around in.
Beau seems to like lying on the tile floor in the kitchen. I agree, air conditioning does the trick. Beau just turned 6 months a couple of weeks ago and I haven't had his hair cut yet, however, I did clip down the fur between his pads (I believe that's where they sweat) someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Jil, Jill and Holly if your reading this, do you want to get together this weekend?
Clyde seems to enjoy the tile floor too. He also likes to lie by the a/c vents and in front of fan so the fur on his face blows like a movie star!

Yes! Check the thread in the gen chit chat area and let me know if you like the idea. I think I'm going to pick up my rescue dog on Saturday morning so Sunday might be better for me.
I'm having Hendrix trimmed this weekend, I think i'll get his tummy and paws trimmed a bit. That's a good idea!
