It feels SOOOO good when someone listens!

My neighbor's daughter Nicki is a mall dweller. She spends too much time there and WAY too much money there, by her own admission. A while back, on a whim, she bought a Golden Retriever puppy from the mall pet store. And imagine her surprise when they realized it had some serious behavioral issues - it was doing some serious bullying of their Mastiff who is a big baby! Rather than spending the time to try to correct the issues, they gave the dog to a friend who was willing to work with him.

All this time, she had been cooing over Caitlyn. Well, after placing the GR, she started asking me about where to find a nice Sheepie. While I want everyone who wants a Sheepie to have one, I am smart enough to see when it's not the best idea. For this reason, I politely talked her out of it; basing the argument on the time required for grooming AND training. I did feel a little bad about it, but that lasted about 13 seconds.

This afternoon, she called me over as Jen and I were leaving to hit the grocery to see their new puppy... Honestly, I was a bit scared to go over to see what they got. When we got there, Nicki told me that they got an English Bulldog for her husband Matt, for Father's Day. She went on to tell me that she got it from a BREEDER here in Ohio! She said that she spent a week or so calling every breeder she could find. She visited a couple and the one she went with she went back several times to visit and spend time with both parents and the puppies. The breeder she picked was an AKC Breeder of Merit. I'm amazed that not only did she listen to me, but REMEMBERED it all. Nicki was amazed that the breeder picked 'even out her puppy for her' knowing that it would be placed in a home with an English Mastiff who was a pushover. She said she would have never thought that would matter but that the breeder explained it all to her. Nicki was VERY happy with how it all as she put it, 'fell together' for her once she started looking. She's got the AKC paperwork and will be filing it this week.

I gotta say, I feel like I've some some good here. Matt's new puppy, Beef it as cute as a bulldog can be and I'm sure things will go as well as we all hope.

It's always great when someone makes a good choice, especially when you helped them to make that good choice!
Well done Vance. Words of wisdom to us all
:clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: for everyone involved!
Great job, Vance. Glad that it worked out successfully. Cute name, Beef!
Good job and I think English Bulldogs are great.
That's always a relief! Whenever I hear of anyone getting a puppy of any sort, first thing I think of is "oh I hope it's from a good place". As much as anything, I know how much pleasure a new dog can bring, and I hate to see the heartbreak when it ends up in disaster instead.
So when is she joining the forum? She's bound to love it here, I'm sure her English Bulldog will be a great honorary sheepie :D

Less mall, more park? :o
Vance, that is an achievement of a lifetime! Congrats. One of my dreams is someone truly listening to me and taking the advice they asked for.

I think we need pictures of a Bulldog puppy. Just sayin'.
Here's the BEEF!!!

Vance

What a cute little guy! :D
My son had a bulldog and he was a sweetheart. They have such a personality! He has gone to the bridge. They have 2 bullmastiffs and had breed their female once. They had one of their puppies at the Westminster competing.
Aw, Beef is just SO adorable! Can't show this to my son's gf - her breed of choice is English Bulldogs!
