off to Florida.

My daughter made drum major for the 2nd year for her high school band. There is 3 drum majors in her band. They usually go to a drum major camp here in Denton but the director thought it would be "a neat experience" for them to attend a DMA that he doesnt work at. So they picked the one in Florida, Daytona Beach area. Me being the over protective mom that I am wasnt real comfortable sending my 16 year old daughter that far with no adults I know in the area. SOOOO my other daughter and I will be going to Florida on vacation while the 3 drum majors are at camp. :clappurple:

I will be driving with 4 teenagers, 1 -19, 1-17,and 2- 16 year olds). We're doing it in 2 days, stop in Pcola the first night, then on to Daytona Beach the second. Suppose to get there on the 12th. Then camp check in is on the 13th in Deland, Stetson University.

If anyone knows the area and can give me a heads up on things to do please let me know. It looks like its going to rain most of the week. I do have a nephew in the Navy stationed in Jacksonville, so Im hoping to see him sometime.

Lets hope for safe travels and no issues. :crossed: :crossed:

Have fun driving... I think it's great that you're doing this for them and I'm sure they'll have fun just being with each other on the trip. :)

Hope you find some things to do!
Have a great time!
My dad lives down there, so I'm a little familiar with it. He lives in Palm Bay and we visited Daytona while I was there.
My best advice would be to bring sunscreen! You will need it. Also, watch out for creepy crawlies, there's all kinds of gross bugs out there, and they're big. Also, there are alligators, so don't let anyone wander around by the ditches. I saw at least 5 alligators while I was there. Go to the beach while you're there if you have time, it's so awesome! I don't know about the weather, I'm sure some of our Florida members can tell you more about that.
Oh, and they have lizards instead of squirrels... It's weird.
I'm happy to hear you're coming to Florida and will be with you child in Daytona. It is a little rough in that town so just be cautious. We are in our rainy season, which means the rain usually moves in and out quickly. Use caution during thunderstorms because we are the lightening capital of the world. :) In Daytona you are not far from the Disney attraction and of course the beach. you will have so much fun and before you know it you will be on your way home. Have fun!

Jade: where in Palm Bay does your dad live? We live in the Bayside Lakes area of Palm Bay...which is the southern end.

He lives on Pebble Beach ave, I don't really know what part of Palm Bay it is. Its by a winn-Dixie though, I remember that (:
i a m40 minutes from there will help any way i can you can always stay with me if you like 2 goofballs lol the rain doesn't last long so no worry about that
Congratulations to your daughter! And have fun on the trip-you are a good mum to find a way to let her participate without actually having her be away unsupervised by people you know well.
Thanks. Im looking forward to the vacation and beach time myself. Will be dogless, they are staying with daddy and their brother so I will miss them like crazy but Im ready to just chill for a week. 8)
Girls week away, sounds like fun
