potty/crate training question

Lola is 10 1/2 weeks old....we crate her at night and during that time, I wake up at 3 am to take her for a potty..she wakes up again around 5-30 am...

During the day, she naps mostly outside of her crate...we take her down for potty about every 45 minutes...

Should we be crating her more and do less potties during the day to get her to hold her bladder for longer periods of time??

I think it is better to stay at 45 minutes outside the crate and have fewer accidents than lengthen the time too soon.

In another week (if all has remained good) maybe go to 50-60 minutes...every week add another 10-15 minutes or so.

In my completely non-professional opinion...the fewer accidents the better. They learn to hold it for "long" periods of time over night :cheer: ...so during the day it is best to reinforce positive behavior even if it means frequent trips outside.
^^

I'd also do it as you already are D! The dogs seem to tell us they can go longer ...and I rather get up an additional time several weeks longer than to have accidents that "may" make them go again at that location.
thanks guys!!!
Yes, I agree that "prevention" is the way to go.
If you prevent the accidents, even by doing more potty trips than might be absolutely necessary, you'll go further faster & in the long run be more successful. Every "mistake" seems to cost you a little delay in the final outcome, IMO. Just remember now matter how good Lola does, their little puppy bodies aren't really up to holding it all night for several more months, no matter how hard you & they are trying to get the potty training right.

Once again, NOT a professional trainer. (But many years and dogs of practice.)

Same as they said!

Always better to "have it never happen" for any undesired behavior. ;)
She is doing well darcy at 10 1/2 weeks, you should be proud !! :hearts:
