Nice Weather and (some) Teenagers

Not a good combo.

Last night, around 11:30, dh and I were settling into bed. THUMP, THUMP...THUMP! I waited a few seconds and said to dh(remember we sleep in different rooms), "what was that?" His answer "I was about to ask you the same thing"

A little uneasy, I got up. Maybe something rolled down the basement stairs. I walk down the hall into the kitchen, dogs trailing behind, look down the basement stairs and there's nothing there. Look out the kitchen door through the window, nothing. Dh, up and putting on his pants, says it sounded like something hit the front of the house. I walk into the living room, pull back the curtain, and "oh, look at this". Dh walks in and says "eggs"

I let the dogs out, they would bark if someone was still around. Walk out the front door to see if someone was around to see our reaction. All is dark and quiet. Dh hoses off the worst and calls the police to let them know there are rowdy teens throwing eggs.

Guess what my job was this morning? The window needed washing anyway.

Oh No! :(

Another good reason not to live in a town...country life getting better and better!
We got egged once, but only one egg, usually it was toilet paper.
Such a bummer! Good that you hosed off right away--so hard to clean up after it dries!
I've never understood what's so fun about throwing eggs at people's houses. I just don't get it. And I'm a teenager, those are the crazy things that I'm supposed to be up to, instead of planting flowers and putting up birdfeeders... Jacob says I'm like an old lady instead of a teenager.
No, never made sense hurting others or destroying their property. No way that was "fun." I was always too old for my age too.

It's why we keep our front gate locked at all times. Not very neighborly, but we had things stolen the first weekend we were here. From then on the gate has been locked.
We don't lock our gate, but we keep it shut all the time and we lock all our doors all the time. I'm used to living in the country where you don't really have to worry about locking the doors, but here in town we have to. We have issues with this weird guy going door to door asking to mow our lawn all the time, he creeps me out. I'm afraid he's going to take Eevee one of these days, last time he was around he saw her and started talking about what a nice dog she is... I'm glad Eevee isn't one of those dogs who just automatically trusts every person, her first reaction is to growl and bark at them, and she keeps doing that unless I tell her it's okay. We always watch the dogs when they're outside and they stay inside when we go places if they don't get to go with us. I'm very thankful that I have dogs who don't destroy my house when I leave.
When I win the lottery, I'm going to move to the countryside and build a house there and start a sheep farm!
Years ago while dh and I were out for dinner my car was egged. The egg skidded across the top of the trunk and badly damaged the paint work.

I can still remember cursing while hosing of the car on a freezing winters night, not fun. I could never figure out what the point to egging was.

My brother's house had a rock thrown at the window just a couple of nights ago. There is a star burst crack in the glass and the window will need to be replaced but luckily it didn't completely shatter. It was their second night home with their first baby.

Egging houses has taken on a very nasty turn here in Melbourne though. There is currently a 14 year old in court on murder charges, he and two friends egged a house and when the couple that lived there gave chase and confronted them the woman was stabbed and died. Unfortunately in front of her husband and young daughter. The 14 year old says the knife just kind of went in.

A terrible tradegy all round over something so petty.
