We rented a RV for SheepiePalooza

Well I finally did it. I rented a Rv for us too travel to St Louis in.
Troy wanted something that the dogs would be comfortable in, and I didn't want to put the miles on my everyday car.
Mattie isn't really sociable and can't deal with the heat, so this will be a nice place for her to
go CHILL in.

Anyone need anything brought to St Louis.

Good for you!

We'll be fine without an RV. We have a clown car, it can actually fit more sheepies than an RV. :D

I drive an Escalade ESV.
I don't know why he didn't think it would be enough room.
MEN!!!!

Well, it may turn into a giant clown car if it rains and we are out at an event and need shelter... 8) 8)
An Escalade ESV wasn't big enough!?!? 8O

I rented a Buick Enclave last year for the trip and I hope to rent a Jeep Grand Cherokee this year.
Gee, I feel like the poor relation with my Camry! LOL. Lisa, will you sleep in the RV? I sense the party place!
Can't imagine an Escalade wouldn't be big enough! But is sounds like you will be very comfortable! :D
I think an RV is a brilliant idea!
Which company rented you an RV that allowed dogs? I tried to do that last year and they wouldn't let me bring the dogs. They allowed dogs under 25 pounds..Is that a dog? Please let me know who you rented through...and by the way, what size did you get?
Diane
It's a company called cruise america. They specialize in rentals for people with dogs. It sounds like they have them all over. It's what they call standard size. It's all they had with this late of notice. I would have taken a smaller one. It's on a van chassis I think Troy said.

Yes I reserved a hotel room also, we originally didn't plan on renting the RV, And I wasn't sure up until yesterday that my boss was giving me the time off. We had talked about renting one, then changed our minds a half dozen times.

PARTY VAN......

No really, remember I'm traveling with 2 dogs with a lot of health issues. Mattie can't get over heated and too thirsty because of her Diabetes Incipidus, and can be cranky at times. A place for her to go when she has had to much is going to be a good thing. Both of them also have bad hips and she has arthritis in her spine. Nothing wrong with making them comfortable.

And lastly, yes the escalade has plenty of room in it, but she has 120,000 miles on it and hasn't been the most reliable vehicle that we have owned. Really it's in the shop all the time.

I'm hoping us renting this doesn't make us seem like a couple of snobs. I only mentioned it because I thought you all would think it was fun.

One of my good dog friends bought a new RV a couple years ago. She had a big 5th wheel Toy Hauler, and her diesel truck that pulled it crapped out (and left her stranded with all her dogs in Iowa - on their way home from a dog show).
So she traded it for a big Class C - the longest they make, with sliders.
So she checks out their rental program, and thought it sounded like a good idea for when she wasn't using it. It would help pay for it!
Was reading through the contract, and saw the line about not renting to people with dogs! 8O Well, all she was going to use it herself was to haul dogs......
When they heard she would have dogs in it, they declined her from the rental program

I'm glad you found one that was good with rental to dog people. :D
Please somebody video Dave and Kim and the clown car! Sheepdogs are far better than clowns! Good preview pix posted already.
I like the little clown in the middle with the little head

It doesn't make you guys seem like snobs.
I'm just thinking, now that "we" have a party bus, I recommend we ALL (including the dogs) pile in the RV and do a sheepie tour of St. Louis. :)

You don't sound like a snob...just a person who cares a ton about her sheepies :high5: It is a long drive & weekend. Everyone does everything they can to make it comfortable for themselves and their dogs. :hearts:
Heavens, you don't sound snobby at all. Just a person who does what is best for her anipals. Hey, Sheepiepalooza will have its own Wigglebus!

OMG, you're TOTAL SNOBS!!! I'm sorry, I'm not sure I can associate with people who are so snobby they do whatever they can to ensure their sheepdogs are safe and comfortable!

We plan on putting our dogs in wire crates lashed to the roof... :sidestep:

...and go storm chasing, driving through hail and tornadoes!!!

Snobs, no way. Very smart when you know you have a problem child. If you were out this way I'd ask if you need a second driver! Couple out here RV travel with the sheepdogs.....they say it's cheaper than kennels and hotels for them. 3 sheepdogs, not wait, down to 2 deaf sheepdogs and 2 humans.....sounds about right.
Hey, thanks for the company name! I think Cruise America rents clsoe to me on Long Island. I keep bugging my husband for an RV and he keeps pushing me over so I offered to rent one and see if he likes it. I LOVE the idea of an RV and travelling with dogs for similiar reason as you...my dgs are big...they ahve health issues...they don't like climing stairs...they get up set with other dogs barking near by...blah, blah, blah...I don't consider myself a snob...but I consider my dogs snobs!

Great idea and recommendation. Thank you!

Charlie and Ted ride inside!

...and they totally love RVing!!! We are just glad we will finally get to meet fellow Michiganders, even if we have to travel 8 hours to do it!
Nothing snobby about it at all! I looked into it too, but could not convince my, um, frugal husband so spend the money. Of course, I could be out of a job shortly so I suppose he was being sensible, but I will be asking you for a tour of the RV so that I can show David why it would be a good idea for taking to the next Sheepiepalooza, or to Floridapalooza or to one of the dates in Philadelphia (where I hear it is always sunny), or Ohio etc. Too bad we can't take an RV to the U.K. That would be fun too!!
