Thanks great info!
That's a good list - thanks Lisa! :)

(ps - chickens wear socks down under??? lol)
Sort of question you may not be able to answer....I know that homemade chicken stock is a great super food for people....but it is usually made with onions.

Onions are a no-no for dogs....so is only chicken stock made without onions okay for dogs? Or does the cooking render onions okay?
You list Cat Food under the No-No's, but my cats get holistic food that is the exact same contents as my dogs. So their food is interchangeable. I assume you mean anything with an ash content...?
Great list--thanks for posting!

   Well it is coming up to winter in Upside Down Land and the chooks will need there socks on 8)

Now chicken stock, home made is better, yes exclude the onions. You can make up a big pot and the chicken used can be shreaded off the carcass for inclusion in there meals. The stock freeze in batches, handy for cooking the rice in, soaking Barley or Rolled Oats. I make my own up minus the onion, shred the chook and put aside for a meal for the dogs and strain the stock into smaller containers and what I am not using that night I freeze for later.

Just about to buy a new book that is coming out here, cooking with what they call superfoods for dogs. It has heaps of healthy receipes in it so looking forward to getting it and trying out especially the treats side of things. When Kelsey was alive I had to make all her treats as she could not tolerate Beef and it is amazing even in bought commercial dog biscuits beef and beef by products in just about all commercial dog food and treats.

Not reallying totally on commercial dog foods according to this book can add 20% longer to a dogs life. In other words a healthy mix of both natural and when you feel a bit lazy a commercial dog food free from chemicals and preservatives seems to be common sense. We dont feed our kids takeaway every night

I did when peppa was diagnosed with cancer at 7 wipe out all commercial dog foods and fed exclusively fresh prepared meals in her diet under the guidence of a Holisitic advisory, must of worked she lived till 14 in good health

So am looking forward to this new book when it comes, I love knowing exactly what goes into my dogs tummies, especially after so many re-calls on commercial pet foods and treats that has and is still happening.
No peanuts? Peanut butter is my dogs favourite thing, well, excepting cheese, of course.

I think it is referring to the whole peanut, peanut butter is cooked peanuts and crushed down.

Now cheese yep a favourite here too, non of that cheap no brand cheese either as hubby found out when he brought a big cheap block for the dogs thinking he was smart but they all turned there noses up at it .
Thanks for posting such helpful information!

I'm just curious if you're able to elaborate any additional info on these foods. We were recommended to give Hannah chicken or turkey baby food after her pancreatitus. And I've given my dogs avocado, mushrooms and baked potato skins, just a bite here or there. So I'm just wanting to be more educated if you happen to know more. Scary to think of what we don't know and how it can harm our beloved dogs. Thanks!

avocado
mushrooms
potato peels
macadamia nuts
baby food
