Seattle OES Club

We've had our OES, Hudson for almost a year now...but I am interested in meeting more OES owners and setting up play dates for Hudson.

We live in the Seattle area...I found this link...

But it seems I need some sponsors? Does anyone have helpful advice or opinions on joining dog clubs? I am not interested in showing or breeding...just meeting other OES owners. I guess I just don't fully understand what the dog clubs are and if it is what I am looking for!

Thanks everyone!

Contact them. I live in washington too and have met some of those sponsors. They are always willing to accept people into their club. They are all nice. I havent joined but I know people that are part of the club. They do some fun stuff. You don't have to be a breeder or someone that shows. Just an owner.
The Seattle club is a pretty active group and do many activities throughout the year. I would contact their group and get more info!
I'm sure they are trying to protect themselves from BYB breeders, etc. Present yourself as an owner who has no interest in breeding or getting a puppy, but rather for the social contact, learning more about the breed, dog related activities and they should have no qualms about you.
I didn't mention- yes, it's the norm to have clubs (any breed, or even all-breed kennel clubs) require a couple sponsors. As mentioned, it's so someone actually knows you (or has at least met and talked to you) and a way of verifying that you are a good and responsible dog owner.
Our club (Twin Cities OES Club) also requires that new potential members attend two club events.
It can seem kind of daunting to a new person, but it is a good way of "making" you meet club members and establishing some nice contacts. Otherwise, people would be able to join and have no real human connection and likely not get involved or really feel like they belong.
Thanks for the information, everyone! You were all very helpful. I will definitely be contacting them. I'm excited about learning more about the breed and getting to know more OES owners in our area!

Thanks again!
