My family's Old English Sheep dog is about 7 years old and she has recently been having a problem controlling her blatter. I was curious if anyone out there had any advice or ideas about what may be wrong with her. We take her outside numerous times a day and she has had no problems or shown any signs of being sick or having an infection. she just seems to be not able to controll her urination.
Back in September my 4 year-old spayed female lost control of her bladder. That is why I came looking for this site.
Turns out it is not unusual in spayed and older females who's ovaries have stopped functioning. Without estrogen the bladder muscle quit working.
She is now on Proin 50 and doing great. She has to take 2 a day, so the 60 tablets are good for a month. Others have had luck in reducing the amount later. I will try that in a few months.

The good news is it starts working within 3 days to a week.
Bad news is its another $20/month and you have to remember to give her one in the morning and one towards evening.
There's more advice in some of the older "puddling posts".

Good luck!
