Puppy's new name

Well, brian has decided he IS interested in the new puppy....he asked if he has a say in her name....we have narrowed it down to 2...i like Kimba and he likes Lola...what do you guys think?
Respond to this topic here on forum.oes.org
I am really hoping she is yours. I chose Lola as I love the song and nearly called Celyn that. Much love to you all xxx :hearts: :hearts:
I like both names a lot but Lola seems like something you would name your dog. :)
I like Kimba. Obviously you have given that name great thought. Its unique and I like that your baby will be the only one with that name. Good luck!!
Song is by the Kinks BTW And this line from the lyrics seems to fit "But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine" :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
Both names are cute, but I liked Kimba because I don't know anyother sheepdog or dog with that name. I've heard of a few sheepies names Lola.
I like both names.... but, I like Lola a wee bit better for a sheepie.
I voted for Lola, Sorry Darcy - Kimba was a cat in a movie, right?

Vance
I like Kimba.
:P How about KIMOLA? :P or LOKIM? I voted for Lola but she is YOUR pup so you get the honor of naming her :hearts: :hearts: Tell Brian that's the rule! :hearts: :hearts:   Darcy, how soon do you get your little angel? Any current pictures?PLEASE!!!
Nancy
I like Kimba...The way you presented it on the forum, gave me chills..(good ones!!)

A little side story????
When Heart came to us, Dino stated he really wasn't crazy about her name. I told him I LOVED her name, since I knew she would invade my heart....

Stubborn man started calling her Jelly...so....she has two names that she responds to.......
kimba is my pic
they just turned 4 weeks on monday...im going to see them on sunday...sara sent pictures to me when i was in hawaii....i have to transfer them...ill do it now...

i would never have thought of lola...but i do kinda like it....i think it has to do with the nicknames too

kimba...kimmy, baba, kimbo, kimchi, monster

lola...lolo, loco, lala, monster...
I picked Kimba. More original.
Sorry Darcy, but to me Kimba is more a cat name. Lola........"whatever Lola wants, Lola gets" is probably what is rolling around in Brian's mind.

Still Kimba is cute. Kimba Kutie!
I'm stuck in limbo land.
I like the originality of Kimba, but I like the name Lola better.

Ditto :-)

Kimba sounds to exotic for a sheepdog.

Beside's, Bond et al's paternal grandmother is named Lola - CH Pettibone's Whatever Lola Wants. Her sister's name is Liza, as I recall. Classic show girls. Have always loved those names.

Do "we" have a registered name in mind, or is that too far down the road? :-)

Lola... L-O-L-A .....Lola...:)
I LOVE the name Lola, my tiniest puppy I've ever seen was supposed to be named Lola so I registered her as Lakesong's Little Lola, and then the people changed her name to Mabel. LOL I thought Lola suited her perfectly, but for your puppy I'm voting Kimba. It's unique and seemed perfect right away.
Either way, great names! :)

Mabel? Lol. I like little Lola. Ah well.

As for full name shoot me some ideas. Sara is desert dogs. And the pedigree is rolling view.

I'm bad at this. So have at it!

Sorry that it's kinda sad, but when I hear Lola, I can't help to think about Gina's (LolasMama) Lola that went to the Bridge as a pup. :(

It's okay because when I think of Lola, I think of a tipsy San Diego chick romping on the beach.

Kimba I think of a romping playful attack pup, hiding behind something till you walk by. Then. "gottcha"

I do like both. I think the only way to narrow this down is going to be....

Is she a blonde (Lola). Or a brunette ( Kimba).

I'm not good at it either. Other people usually come up with my dogs' registered names. I am in the same situation as what you describe - basically two kennel names combined, Marnie's Masquerade with my Madness (which she hates :-) ) Anyway, that does require more creativity. One thing you should know is that the call name is only rarely in the dog's registered name. Some times, the call name may reflect the registered name, though it may or may not be blatant.

Examples:
Masquerade Must Be Madness - call name Sybil
Masquerade Midnight Madness - call name Macy (as in the store...which is why my Dad gave Sybil the nick-name "K-Mart" <sigh>)
Masquerade Madness Moonraker - call name Bond

With the little girls their call names have NO connection with their registered names:

In memory of my Dad, I wanted a certain type of name, plus we had a moon theme going:

Bond's sisters:
Masquerade Madness Moon River - call name Luna (supposedly because she was conceived and born during a full moon, in reality because she's a lunatic).
Masquerade Madness Moonlight Serenade - call name Becky - because she reminded me so much of her dad - Becket

So you have more latitude than you think. And many cute things you can combine with Desert...Hopefully more creative people will pitch in.

They are both cute names but I went with Lola, Kimba also sounds more cat like to me.

Cindy
Yes, so many things you can put with desert....... You have many interesting plant possibilities:

Instead of just desert......there is a desertpeony.
Desert Fairyduster
Desert Velvet Mimosa
Desert Sleepy Silene
Desert Mariposa Lily...or Lola
Desert Whispering Bells
Desert Blazing Star
Desert bells
Desert Shepherd's purse
Mojave Desert Star
Desert Rosewood
Also, part of what bothers me about Kimba is the overuse of Simba, when the Lion King came out. It was WAY overdone, I even had a BIL with a chocolate lab w/ that name...not to mention all the ones who came through my classes.

Kimba has nothing to do with the lion king...simba isn't Kimba.

I meant in the fact that they rhyme...sound so similar. And are both cartoons. :? OK, I hate cartoons, so that has some input too. :(
I like both names too. I don't think you can go wrong with either one! Sometimes you just know which fits when they come home.

Sounds like she's going to be "monster" ...whether you offically name her Lola or Kimba

Fun fun!
Just name her Darcy. That's what you tell everyone else. :)
I think Kimba is a cool name but too exotic for my personal tastes. If the transformation of Chumleigh to Chummie is any indication, I expect I would end up calling the dog "Kimmie"

I think Lola is a beautiful, melodic name for a beautiful, bouncy girl.
I was really really really holding out for Bebe for Gracie. And I rejected hundreds of names Kim read out to me, and not just Bebe like the French baby, but Bebe like Cartman in Southpark saying it with a lot of snark, :D and her call name would have been Blueshire's Waiting With Baited Breath. I thought it was perfect! But nooooo, I let Kim decide  . So I'm pulling solidarity with Brian here, I prefer Lola.

oh, i like that ^^^

i kinda want to make it funny....it's not like im going to show her.....is that bad???

Rolling Views nighttime desert lolita....
how about you take BOTH pups then you can use BOTH names. Problem solved. :lmt: :sidestep:
Lola sounds sassier...like a Darcy pup would be :cheer:

Lola also sounds like a dog that would love to dress up for Halloween :roses:

8O  8O  :?
I thought Lola was a cats name. I voted Kimba but I would want a diff name. If you wanted to call the dog Kimba sounds more forceful. Lola sounds wishy washy

Sounds like a perfect plan :high5:
I voted "Kimba" because it is different and unique for a sheepie girl.

Is she down from "Desert Dancer" in her genes - slash - background.

If so then suggestions there .....................

Desert Dazzler
Desert Diamond
Desert Nomad
Desert sunset
Desert Sands of time
Desert Storm
Desert Sahara
Desert Dunes
Desert Arabian Nights

Which ever name you end up with, wait and see, you might find once she is home sweet home you and brian change your minds again. 8) Brie was named "Charlotte" and when she came and her personality developed and she had no "Comprehension" to that name and completely ignored it, we came up with the name "Brie" which she finally responded too. 8)   Bebe for short as french for baby and short for part of her Kennel Name Brigette Bardot.
I THINK THAT NAME HAS BEEN CHOISED! Even I voted only today ! :)
Once you meet the puppy perhaps the right choice will be clear to you. It might even be something else.
Sometimes the name you have in mind is just not right for the particular puppy.
I am all for letting Brian have the 51% vote since he expressed an obvious interest
in being involved.

Sorry Darcy - I love Lola LOLA she was a show girl!!!!!!!!!
Yeap gotta be Lola!!!!!!

Oes :wag: :wag: :wag: LOLA LOLA LOLA
If it is a confident boisterous pup I would choose Kimba but if is a really sweet gentle puppy I would choose Lola.
This poll should be closed since its 8 months old, fyi for those of you that don't know Darcy now has a Lola.
But it is still good to say what we would have chosen if we had of been able at the time. Just because we know Darcy has a lola doesn't mean we can't play! I did a poll with Bailey they are so much fun and "inclusive."

OES
Is it too late for me to pick "Lola"?
:wag:
I'd forgotten about this post.
You've resurrected my "Lola she was a show girl" ear worm Ron.
I'm not sure but I might just want to kill you for that.

I agree, the like button just becomes this horrible mark of vanity. No one liked my post, therefore no one likes me. Or why did Val like Mark's post but not mine, she must like Mark more. Ugh, I hate that like feature. Maybe that is just insecure me, but it makes me feel like I am in high school all over again. Sometimes you comment on a post, sometimes you don't. Usually, for me, it was more based on how much time I had or whether I had something of use to say (for medical and training posts, I deferred to the more expert folks like Dawn).
I was just thinking about it more in terms of a shorthand for "I've seen your post" rather than "like".

But upon reflection, you're probably right. fb has made it too easy. I'm now so lazy I won't type "I agree" and click on "submit". :D
Absolutely no like button
Everyone gets lazy and waits for others to post so they can just click like or not.

HI VAL!!!
I miss you too. I was hoping you'd come back. :clappurple:
