The magical puppy cleaning fairy is visiting...

Okay, Eevee is ridiculously clean. All the time. She goes outside, she plays, she gets dirty, I think I'm going to have to give her a bath since her paws and legs are muddy, I look at her five minutes later and she looks like she wasn't even out! Are all sheepie puppies this clean or is there a puppy cleaning fairy coming to clean her when I'm not looking? It just seems like she's too clean...

Must be the fairies!

OK, I must admit...if it wasn't for his wet and dirty face, Bond really is a clean puppy too.
But molar teething is in full swing and he always has a hard bone or some other hard chew way back on the molars and he just is a messy mouth as a result. Then things stick to it...and not helping is the liquid oily supplement either! Dirt magnet!
We do face washes every day.

That brings up something I have been meaning to ask -

How do you guys that do frequent face washes do it without getting the whole frontside and legs wet? I haven't had much luck and Pru's little beard stays so dirty. I actually trimmed it down some and bought that cool water bowl (can't remember the name  )...and it has helped but would like to figure out a good way to clean her beard more often without winding up with a 1/2 bath situation

Eevee doesn't even have a dirty face. It's wet right after she drinks from her water bowl, but other than that, nothing. She goes outside and rubs her face on the ground, and the dirt is gone before I even have a chance to clean her off.
How old is Bond?

Bond is now just turned 6 months old (on the 13th), and the serious molar teething has been going on for about the last month.

When Chewie (who turned 6 yrs this weekend) was a puppy, I taught him to stand at the edge of the bathtub, with his head over it. Then I washed his muzzle/face. It works great - now he just stands there and I can be hands free on him and wash. :bulb:

I am now teaching Bond to do the same. He's not quite as tall yet, and isn't as good at holding his face in place..... So I hold his face with one hand and wash with the other. I have him sit and I stand behind him with my feet blocking his butt - he used to squirm and wiggle back.
For Bond I lay the towel I'm using over his front legs/feet, so if he wiggles, it catches the water. He gets a little down his chest when he does that, but just runs down the outer hairs.
Then I towel dry his face. He loves it, we play the 'towel is a toy' game every time. It ends it with fun - key point!
I used to notice that, completely covered in mud.... but when he's dry, the mud has disappeared

Not so much now his coat is a bit longer. It's not too bad but after a week or so he starts to look a bit yellow
As I read your post, I can see the dried grass, leaves and dirt falling off of five month old Gracie, onto the floor. And I look at her filthy face from where she dragged a toy through the dirt. Could you send the puppy cleaning fairies to my house, please? :plead:
Try using a large trash bag. You can either tie it around the dogs neck or you can cut a hole in the bottom for the head to stick thru.

I would totally send them to you! I was so prepared for all this work keeping the puppy clean, and I have none. I gave her a bath a couple hours ago just because she was smelly, but she still wasn't dirty.

I use a bin liner for a bib and tie it around his neck

Saw this on FB on a dog, Dylans, page. Putting a tshirt over their heads and front so that it covers all that and only allows the muzzle and eyes to show so you can just wash the face! Genius idea!

Please send puppy cleaning fairies my way. I may need for or five of them on call...I have Bond's two sisters, enough said

This morning before a vet visit I bathed their whites. Looneytunes (Luna) decided she'd had enough and the bridge of my nose somehow got in the path of her escaping bum. I wonder if she broke it?

BTW, Dawn - B 50.4 lbs, L about a pound more. Becky seems like she should weigh more, talk about width! And, no, neither are fat. But Luna's a bit taller.

Ouch! :| I hope it's not broken!

Bond hasn't gotten me yet, Chewie had a massive head-butt collision with my nose a few weeks ago. I escaped with a sore, swollen nose and a cut across the bridge of my nose from my glasses. There was blood... ...mine!

Interesting weights. I guess we need to measure them for height. I'll try and do Bond tomorrow.
Bond was holding at 63.-something pounds on Monday. He's still a bit shorter than Chewie...maybe an inch? Chewie's 23.5". :lmt:
Bond has real good width going as well. :D Be interesting to see how that compares to Becky now.

Harriet is her absolute happiest while filthy. I've now become accustomed to lugging 60lbs of sheepie up over our carpeted steps, to dump her, unceremoniously, into the bathtub, so I can scrub off her muddy paws and face. So...yeah...can someone send some of those fairies my way too?

Please?

Pretty, pretty please?

Love the t-shirt over the head! There are adult sized bibs....often used by those with shakey hands or by DHs who eat in front of the tv and concentrate more what is on the telly than the fork. The bib works good on doggies too for face washings.
Yesterday I used a medium sized towel as a bib on Bond when I washed his face tub-side. I used one of my clothespins to hold it in place - worked great!
He likes face washes (we always end with fun play), and he thought the towel clipped on was pretty neat. What a goofy pup I have!
