Video of Caitlyn's B-Match from Sunday, April 15

OK, so here are the two videos I have of the B-Match from Sunday, the 15th. Jen is a bit shaky with the camera, mostly because she's got an epic case of arthritis going on. However, she did well enough for me to know where I need to work on things and where we're pretty good. For Jen’s benefit, I’m looking for a volunteer to video the show in Columbus, just PM me.

So far, I can see I've got to get Caitlyn to stop turning her head while I'm stacking her. Also if you notice, she's actually self-stacking pretty good until I go and lift her bum to set her hind feet AND THEY ALREADY ARE!!! I really need a mirror at home! She did really well with her pace around the ring this time and that's something that's always bothered me since last November in Columbus. I think finally got my speed right and she seems to just fall into it.

Breed

The woman with the Bearded collie was really getting on my nerves. She kept running up on the dog ahead of her and then she let her dog turn around to 'play' with Caitlyn to the point where the Bearded slapped Caitlyn in the face with BOTH front feet. I really wanted to smack her at that point. The Bearded's behavior was very reminiscent of Caitlyn's in November in Columbus... So I didn't even say anything. I'm trying to be a nicer, gentler Vance...

Caitlyn was so well behaved. :clappurple:
The look on her face when she got slapped! "Daddy, that doggies not being very nice to me" If that was bloo he would be joining in and playing too... Caitlyn did a fab job! WELL DONE :rimshot:
She did so well! I hadn't noticed before, but Caitlyns markings are just GORGEOUS! How sweet is she?!
Caitlin did so well. She is such a pretty girl. Well done you guys :) :clappurple: :clappurple:
Nice job...Caitlyn is getting so much steadier! Her self stacking is great, in fact even better than quite a few OES out showing as adults.

Now the other...still need to work on that collar...I see it's still the big chain one. :(
But you can get it up on her neck. And when you stop and stack, switch to the collar...use the lead only when moving. (and the lead dangle over on her show side...twice!...makes the showmanship instructor in me shudder...but that's just me! )
In practice, work on getting her head up with the collar up by her jaw (that way it won't choke her or make her gaggy) Then you can lift her head up.
Here's a picture I hate of me  , but it shows what I mean on Chewie:

and then use the other hand only to steady the head when you need it (Bond is at the stage where I'm using it a LOT!)

One other hint - on the second video, at about 2:55, you are in the corner. Then you step forward, and are kind of hidden in the lineup. The better option would be to use the corner and angle yourself in it, so the judge has a GREAT view of Caitlyn.... you will pop out from the group, instead of getting lost. If you go back and look at it, and imagine you are angled in the corner, you'll see what I mean. :D

Hope this helps...you two are doing great!! :cheer: :high5:

PS, I love the commentary too :D
and I would NOT have been that nice to the beardie lady.....I would have given her the death glare!
Really?? it's like she did it on purpose!
The collar is actually one of the smooth 'diamond cut' choker...

I know- I have 2, but don't use them. I see my wording was odd - I meant big = long, and made of chain...
I thought you were going to get a white nylon one?
Hey Vance,

You two look really good. I like the speed at which you are moving her and the patient but corrective way that you reposition her. You definitely are making great progress! Keep checking her feet even if she seems to be self stacking, her feet should be turned so they are forward. See you this weekend.

I am, but I like to try on stuff like that so I get the right one the first time and I'm not stuck with the wrong one. So, I have to wait until this weekend to get one in Columbus.

:excited: :excited: :excited:

good job.to both of you!!!!
Great news for future videos!!! A friend I work with suggested a uni-pod for the camera. This will help stabilize it and make it easier for Jen to operate with her sore hands. So either tonight or tomorrow night, we'll be practicing that in the back yard, (garden for the UK folks :D ). I'll be working with Caitlyn and she'll be recording it so she can get the hang of it before Columbus this weekend. We want great video of ALL the Sheepies!
