Taboo

Its seems that this tail issue is a bit of a taboo thing on this forum what I can gather as I have not been here that long also how the dog looks as well with the type of hair cut & style they have. I might be wrong but thats just me :lmt: ( Looking at things )

I don't think it's taboo (I saw it alluded to in the other thread "Sheepies with tails (rant)"), it's just the type of subject which draws a lot of aggressive anonymous guests with PETA-type political agendas. I believe the general consensus of the (at least the North American) members here is that tail-docking should be a choice, and should not be banned. Personally I prefer the tail docked, and the great rounded panda bum it produces, but I would not bash any sheepie that does have a tail (and I've seen enough pictures of absolutey gorgeous tailed sheepies from the UK, Australia, and Europe posted here that I would love to hug).

I completely scorn PETA and similar fanatical positions. PETA ultimately wants the extinction of all domestic animals, including dogs. Starting with purebred dogs. Why attempt to debate someone with PETA affiliation about tail docking when they want the extinction of Sheepdogs? This is why Kennel and breed associations should never negotiate or try and compromise with these fanatics. They want the extinction of your breed! There is nothing to discuss.
See you are lucky in the USA. You have a choice as we don't :(. I think the reason in the UK was to please these animal lib groups (which is near to impossible). Instead of sorting out the breeds which have been overbred & change so much that the dog has lots of issues. They to go the easy way are just to stop docking tails. Being honest not a lot of dog’s breeds have their tails docked. So it was simple and cheap way of getting these groups off their backs. I do like the tail on dogs but certain ones do need docking due to the type of work they do.
