I found a solution to Car Anxiety (kind of)

Some of you on this forum may have read about all the problems we've had traveling with Frank in the car over the last year+.

I didn't realize this would really help our problems, but adopting a 5 y.o. sheepdog that LOVES the car, has cut down on Frank's car anxiety big time. He still usually has to do a liquidy #2 as soon as he's let out of the car, but I can tell he is way more at ease during the ride which is a huge relief to us.

~ so when all else fails - adopt another sheepdog!

So, who is the third dog in your avatar? (Or am I hallucinating again?)
Hey Mandy, sorry I've been flaking out on the forum lately. We've had a lot of construction going on at the house since end of April.

The 3rd dog, who is standing in profile and in full coat would be "Bacall" who was staying at our house for a few nights the weekend before the Philly picnic. I believe there's a bloodline to Frank somehow as she is from the same breeder. I enjoyed having her visit but I was secretly trying to persuade my husband to think how wonderful it was having 3 sheepdogs in the house.
Very nice!
So would that be Bacall after Lauren Bacall?
And, more importantly,
Did the hubby fall for the wonders of three OES?
Yes, Bacall after Lauren Bacall. Her brother's name was Bogart but he was placed with a family in North Jersey that has Frank's brother. My husband knows that I would love to have 10 dogs here but he's not so convinced. We'll have to buy a farm someday. We'll see....

I think I found another way to help the car issue.

This past weekend we took Pooh to my in-laws and my bro and sis in law brought their wheaten. The dogs are about the same age and LOVE to play. We left them together in the kitchen and went to play golf. Upon our return, they had decided to leave a nice wet spot in the corner, but continued to play through dinner. When we got Pooh in the car for the ride home, he got in willingly, laid on the seat, head down and while he was somewhat awake the ride hom, didn't get sick or even drool!

So the trick here? Tire them out with eachother so all they want is some peace and quiet and you'll get a happy car rider!
