San Francisco 7 year old male OES dumped at shelter!

7 year old male OES. Owner surrendered, failed shelter test as too stressed and under-socilaized. family stated they were moving and didnt want to take him.
Im going in this afternoon to evaluate him with a local rescue group who were contacted to see if they would take him. No foster home open right now. I will post more details after I see him.

Sorry I should add that I used to post on here periodically. I had an crippled wonderful rescue girl. Sookie who was pulled from this same shelter after she was dumped in golden gate park. I cant remember my old username, LOL.
Poor little guy. Hope he gets a home soon. How do shelters expect a dog to pass a 'shelter test' when they are stressed? Imagine, your family just dumps you off because they are now inconvient and HE didn't do anything wrong. Ok, a shelter is MUCH better than the roadside. Wish I could take him. I'm in MN
Thanks dogmom! The shelter contacted the rescue to get him pulled, so even though he failed their test they are trying to help him. Some dogs just dont kennel well and its a city shelter so not an easy spot for an oes. All we can do is spread the word. I'll have a better idea after I meet him.
How sad--hope he finds a new home quickly!
Nice dog! He's in good shape, playful, focused, good with other dog we had him meet. Played fetch, sits, high fives. Easy to walk, confident but respectful. Awesome guy. Now he needs a foster(or adopter) I'm full right now can't foster.
Sure hope somebody grabs him fast. Too bad he can't get to MN. :(
He failed his assessment for the shelter (too stressed and shut down)so he's not available for adoption. He can only be released to a rescue.
He was not overly stressed and not shut down at all when I checked him out. He was just a little uncomfortable walking back into the shelter and very enthusiastic about interacting with us, the ball and the other dog.
He did that totally charming sheepdog flirty head thing when I was walking away from his kennel. He needs a foster to go into ASAP. :-(
Any Rescues in the area that can get this boy? :hearts: :hearts:
Were the shelter assessment people around when you were there to see how he responded to you? Or doesn't that matter? Just askin................... :lmt:
Once they do the tests that's pretty much it and he failed tests for both shelters, one of which I'm a dog trainer for and I've done the testing many times.
He has a couple of big maybes. Grateful dogs rescue is activiley pursuing a foster so they can pull him and they contacted oes rescue who got back to them today. The oes rescue people should be in to see him ASAP.
Fingers crossed!
