On my hands and knees

Its not often that I'm caught off guard when I'm out walking with the dogs.

Because of the route I took, I had to walk a few blocks on a semi-busy street. No sidewalks so I was actually walking on the edge of front yards holding the leashes tight so the dogs wouldn't bolt into the street if they saw something interesting.

Simon saw something interesting and bolted...a motorcycle. I didn't see it and wasn't prepared. I think I tripped over Gar and ended on my hands and knees...on the grass, not the street.

Nice days=motorcycles. Simon HATES them.

Glad you landed on the grass and not on the street! Hope all is well and that you are not sore tomorrow!
Ouch Pam, so glad you fell in the grass. I applaud you walking both guys at the same time. And managing to hang onto both dogs during chaos. Hope you aren't sore and miserable tomorrow.
Pam, I so glad you are okay!

Panda too was a tyrant when it came to moving things...cars, skateboarders, but especially motorcycles and lawnmowers would drive him insane. Same went for vacuum cleaners. I think the sound is so high pitched they are far more sensitive to them. I finally solved the problem by sitting in a park overlooking a busy street and we would sit and watch the traffic go by. As we were both sitting and in a relaxed state (although he would lunge on the leash when he saw motorcycles zipping by) I had more control in the seated position to pull him back to sit beside me. I use distraction, talking..ect. People might of thought I was weird sitting down and watching them when they mowed their lawns. LOL! We did it on a daily basis. Eventually over time he overcame his obsession with them and now they don't faze him at all.
Or if you see one coming when you are out walking perhaps put him in the sit position, distract and praise him - it will get better overtime.

I'm so glad you weren't seriously hurt!!

Scary, Pam! I am happy you didn't break anything. Marianne, great tip for getting a dog used to those kinds of sounds.
Ouch. I hope you are doing okay?

I am so nervous about falling again now since I was knocked over at that dog park and broke my ankle.
Ouch! Hope you aren't to sore today.

Cindy
I hope there were no treats for Simon after his walk. Okay well maybe one little treat
Oh no, glad you're OK, that could have ended so much worse.
How are your knees? Hopefully they're not too badly banged up and scratched.

I hope Simon gave you lots of lovely sheepie kisses to make you feel better!
