Mr. Muffin's ChipIn

I thought I would put Mr. Muffin's ChipIn in general chit chat I think it might be getting lost within the longest thread in history :cheer: http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=36574

:bulb: A very good idea!! :bulb:
Oh my word, I missed this somehow. Can someone summarize? I read the first few pages but would love a summary of how it all turned out!
Mr. Muffin was sedated by a mobile vet, transported to a veterinary clinic to be shaved down and neutered...

After:

Unfortunately, he tested heartworm positive so Ellen's ChipIn is to help fund his initial care and upcoming heartworm treatment.

Bill #1 Sedation by mobile vet
Bill #2 Shave down, neuter, vaccinations, x-rays, etc. provided by veterinary hospital.
Bill #3 Quote for heartworm treatment.

During his shave down, the vet noted one leg had lost muscle mass. She did an x-ray and found that Mr. Muffin has a broken hip... he had likely been hit by a car at some point.

He's currently recovering from his neuter and Ellen & Scot are attempting to integrate him into their pack. He doesn't appear to know any commands... but he is of course capable of learning. He also has separation anxiety... so it's definitely going to take time.

More recent info can be found around this part of the that loooong thread-

I surely missed important info and others can fill in or correct this if I don't have it right... but I think these are the highlights.
Very good idea--

My toughs as well. Considering Ellen landed here from searching for advice about a dog in trouble, I feel like the situation came to us because we happened to be the best people to help. I'm glad we are here for her and MM, and comforted to know what a fantastic group we have. :hearts:
I can't get over how much like Panda (except the coloring) this boys looks. I think this boy is a Sheepiedoodle...and if not, then he's an honorary Sheepie in my books.

Panda when he first arrived at my home had that mournful/worried expression as Mr. Muffin did in his earlier shaved photos. Don't worry MM we've got your back!

Sending MM and his uprights best wishes!

Marianne
As I read the story...backwards...I too became enthralled with him. I now check everyday to see the updates.

I gave because in my heart I felt it was the right thing to do. I wish there was more I could do.
Jaci, You did a fantastic job allowing members a much easier view of what's happened so far with Mr. Muffin and how Ellen became involved with him. Thank you so much for this and also to spacegirl for posting the chipin - also making it easier. You both rock!

You pretty much covered it all! Hope all the readers understand that this was not Ellen or Scotts dog but a stray whom wandered from the woods where he had been living to their yard. Ellen then came onto the forum seeking help for the dog as she believed he was an OES. Finally capturing him they took him to the vets and paid for his treatment out of pocket themselves. (A few of us following the story called in with our CC but the majority of the bill was paid by them). It was suggested by members that a chipin be started to help defray the cost and impending future cost to help this poor soul.

Good job everyone !

Marianne
When does he have his orthopedic appointment? I am worried about the broken hip :(
 Thanks for posting this, Marianne!! I wish a moderator could combine our posts.
I jumped into about the middle of the story so Heather could get caught up. I should
have posted thinking of people who might begin the story here, with this thread...
You did a great job telling the story.

Oh this is the clincher: http://s1257.photobucket.com/albums/ii513/b4now/?action=view&current=dog.mp4

brings a tear every time.

Poor guy.
Spacegirl, Jaci, Marianne - WOW.

Thank you so much for the move, the narration, the photos... that took alot of time and work.

I am so humbled by all the donations that have come in...the the vets office, thru the chipin, by check directly to us.

One member wrote that her boys were following the story and donated their cookie money. That made me almost cry. I wish so much MM could understand what I say to him because I would love to tell him how sweet that is, and how loved he is by so many people.

Thank you!!!!!

Hi Baba,

I haven't started the ball rolling on that quite yet. I am still trying to get "life" settled in a bit around here...

It's been chaotic at times.

Like this morning, our neighbor raises golden retrievers, and one of her females wanders over like she usually does in the mornings...but she's in heat apparently because MM just went ballistic. I had him outside at first, then quickly brought him inside where he went running thru the house checking every door, over and over.

Then Kilo got reved up because MM was excited, and all this before my morning tea even.

Mr. muffin is passed out now, so i am going to try and get a bit of work done... :crossed: :crossed: :crossed:
I think everyone here should give themselves a pat on the back.

I didn't do anymore than anyone else did and actually joined late when it was first posted. This is such a friendly group and it's left us all with feel good moments to help out either morally or financially to someone in need. Thanks for that!

Awww little kids giving up their cookie money...that is so sweet!!
