Our 9 yr Anniversary of living in Florida
We had lost 3 of our parents in quick succession (July, August, Dec 2001) 9/11 and what was the final blow, Chuck was layed off in May 2002. We decided at that time, life was too short, our kids were grown and have their own busy lives, that if we ever wanted to iive our dream to move to Florida, the time had come. So we started making our plans Chuck found another job, we worked really hard and saved like crazy Our plan was to leave after Christmas 2002, but we had to push back to 2003. On the day we left Michigan, March 3rd it had started to snow, it ended up being a blizzard, but we were far gone by then. We split the trip into 2 days and pulled into Port St John Florida on March 4th. Pearl was the perfect traveler. She was in her cat house right between Chuck/I and we never heard a peep out of her. She ate and slept very well. Florida is soooo different from Michigan in so many way. We love it here. I have learned so much about so many things. I love living in perpetual July. We've had our ups and downs, but I would rather have my downs in a nice warm sunny climate. Three wonderful things happened to us here, we found our Florida girls, Violet, China and Asia. They are Florida girls, sand runs in their veins. They have been the best thing that have happened to us since arriving. I also found this great group of friends, here on oes.org, thu Violet, thank you my sweet sheepie girl. We would celebrate at the beach today, but we're expecting rain and high of 60. lol I would like to thank all of you for being in my life since July 2006. |

It is a wonderful thing!  I am from the south and didn't have to leave the cold, but we came to the coast for much the same reasons (leaving a job, my dad died, etc...). I hope my Pru becomes a sand girl like your 3, I will have to get some pointers  Congrats on your 9th year here and from a here's to many many more!!!  |

I've already told my husband when our youngest graduates high school in 2016 I want to move to the Navarre Beach area. My b-i-l lived there before he passed last year, my s-i-l is still there. Such pretty beaches and not a tourist area. LOVE IT.  |
| Thank you so much for your post! It gave me hope that perhaps when I leave my place and province here in Canada to relocate to the East, then perhaps my story will end up like yours. I'm so anxious about leaving what is familiar to me and starting afresh someplace else. You kept upbeat and positive and now you love your new place! i want to thank you for your post as it gave me a somewhat more relaxed feeling about my impending move from Westcoast to Eastcoast which will happen for me sometime in June or July. (My partner is leaving April 14th). Then again you have Florida...ahhhhh sunshine! We are going from mild winters to brrrr snowy cold winters. I'd love to live in Florida!
