I posted this in another thread too...
I have been thinking of all of you that live above me in the middle part of the U.S. I am praying that tonight is not as bad as they think and all of us are telling funny OES stories!
Everyone please check in tomorrow so we know everyone faired fine through the storms!
Two towns in Indiana were destroyed, Henryville and Maryville, and 8 people have been reported dead. That's about 20 miles from Louisville, where Denise (Sheepie2) lives and about 60 miles from where I live. Much too close for comfort! We just had a lot of rain and wind but no other tornadoes nearby.
Thinking of all of you still waiting and wondering about storms in your own area. Thoughts and prayers going out to everyone who suffer losses through this terrible weather.
Horrible wind here in my area of Central Ohio. Heavy rain off and on tonight. Tornado's seem to be staying south of us. Really worried about Indiana folks. Everyone stay safe, and check in!!
The tornado that flattened Harrisburg, IL a couple of days ago was only about 122 miles or 2.5 hours away from my old house in Valmeyer, IL.
That's one thing I do not miss about the midwest.
We are still under a Tornado watch here in middle Tennessee. We were lucky in our county again with no major damage or tornado but we did have 70mph winds and golf ball size hail. The worst of the weather was in Nashville and a little north. We are a little south of downtown Nashville and today it made a difference. Lot's of wind damage all around us.
It is going to be a long spring here I think. Hope all who had storms in there areas fared well.
I was just telling my husband how I bet we were going to have a rough spring with big storms since we had such a mild winter. Hope every one is ok. We live in "tornado alley" but havent had any bad storms yet.
Stay safe everyone.
We are in no weather danger here. I was watching all the bad weather before I slept today (worked night shift) and then when I got up. Looks pretty bad in many areas.
We are in a wind advisory tomorrow - and I just let the dogs out for last potties and I can tell it's winding up - grabbed the door from my hand!
glad everyone is safe I watched the damage on the news (here in alaska) and was so worried some of my friends from here could have been hit. WOW the storms were bad...
Well, we had no snow accumulation forecast this past weekend. Drove home from MI to Ohio thru 3 different blinding snow storms on the turnpike & then headed south to home (another hour on bad roads & blinding snow again) & came home to 5" on the ground at 10PM. Jim said it had snowed 2" in the morning, sun came out & melted it away only to start snowing again Sunday evening. It's still snowing this morning! but the high winds we had last week are gone.
Marilyn - I talked to Marnie as she was leaving Detroit yesterday and told her storms had passed, just some lingering flurries. Sure, right. Last night it picked up again and she called me to report that she was passing my exit having just finally gotten through a massive pile up on the freeway one county south of me. She also said she'd hit some bad stretches prior to that.
Glad you made it home OK.
I was worried too about our friends that live in the Tornado areas. Stay safe everyone and know that we are all thinking of you.
Kristine: The storms were following us home....3 different bands of them moving west to east & spread north to south. So Marnie was traveling into them while we were trying to get ahead of them! I'm ready for Spring even tho' we had a mild winter here.
