The storm has begun in MN

Here's my drive to work this morning....

This is the 4 lane highway I drive into town to work...and you also could still tell we had ZERO snow on the ground. This started at 0630, just as I was leaving to drive to work.
I'm enjoying the little snow, especially as we are supposed to be in the wintry mix, then freezing rain the rest of the storm. :? :?
Of course today is NOT the day I want this, as it's the day of Chewie's agility class.

I know you love the snow, but not freezing rain!!!

We are to have wind all day, 40-50 mph......70 mph on the east side of the mtns. A lot of dust will be in the air.......sigh.
Ikes! I heard the upper midwest was supposed to get hit today! Stay safe and if you have to, cuddle up to the puppies!!!
Ours is coming tonight, 6-9" predicted so we'll see what we get. Of course tomorrow we have to go in for blood work, might not make it.
I work 12 hours - today and tomorrow...so if I'm stranded, it will have to be snuggling with my client's kitties!  8)

Hoping I can make it home tonight. :D :crossed:
Or even more hoping they mis-forecast it and it turns into a nonevent like the last one! :crossed:
I vote for the non event. I do remember driving in the type of weather. It reminds me of the days when I worked for AAA of Michigan. All the schools/businesses would be closed, through AAA's advisement, but we still had to make it into work. Oh the good ole days. lol
I've been watching the weather for our drive at the end of the week; I hope you get huge accumulations (for dogs to play in) but that it passes in time for us to drive on Friday!

we had it yesterday and all thru the night....never live on the 11th floor with your doorwall open a crack..i woke to whistling and howling wind, got up closed it and then couldnt fall back asleep...grrrrr :|
Yeah, spring in the southwest. Did you have a little pile of sand inside the door? I'll be cursing the low branch over the roof here in a bit.

I just tried to go into town, major accidents on highway.....and the wind really hasn't started to howl.....just wait for the tumbleweeds to take to the air and the semis are flopping over. Traffic was standing still, I got to an exit and turned around. Nothing so important I can't do it tomorrow.
No wind here yet :plead: :plead: (well the usual is here - 10-20mph "breeze") 8)

We look very close to the freezing mix line, but still getting the big fluffy flakes. :crossed: :crossed:
Just checked, it's 32 degrees (0C), and going to 36F for a high. They are saying freezing mix for the rest of this band this morning. Then rain this afternoon. ICK. :headbang:
This was looking out the window of my client's home here at work.
Nice huge flakes!!
Seeing they likely won't last, I wanted to at least get them recorded.

The weatherman was saying that in Boston we've had "trace" amounts of snow in February. We are tied with 2 other years for the least amount of snow for this months since records have been kept.

HOWEVER

This year February has 29 days. It's a leap year and the 29th falls on Wednesday. We're expecting measurable amounts of snow on Wednesday.

BUT

I won't count my inches until the flakes fly.

LOL

Exactly!
Our last winter storm produced ZERO flakes. Epic fail on that prediction.

Good thing I got that video, as less than 15 minutes later, they stopped and freezing rain began to pelt down :( :(
huh,
dawn forgot to put animals of any kind in that video?!? 8O

I'm at work!
dawn,
i know, had to tease ya, cause you have us spoiled. thanks.

:wag:
Our snow was suppose to start this evening, it started this morning and it's the big wet flakes. Roads are still good but it's filling in all the bare spots we had from the melting. It's pretty and this will be the most we've had all year if they are correct in their predicitons. Spring is only 3 wks away.
I am happy that you finally will get some proper snow!

Well, not proper enough. :(

It's raining, so this is now the view out my window:

Totally pathetic :plead: :plead:

and for guest56 - there are 2 labs that live in the home with the white fence...but they are in the house!
Up here in the twin cities, we are suppose to get freezing rain, drizzle and sleet and it is suppose to really kick in tonight thru tomorrow and the weight could bring down tree branches and power lines. Maybe 4 inches where I am. I don't really understand the difference between freezing rain, freezing drizzle and sleet. It's all flippin ICE! :headbang: Driving will be fun, playing "What's My Lane" :x
Just looked at 90 day forecast....... drought across the south from Calif to Florida and not much in Minnesota. Only Wash state and mid lakes down to Ohio Valley due for extra moisture. We can hope they are wrong.
The snow video was pretty! Darn rain and freezing rain! Stay safe!
We had 70 degrees great until you realize this means the Summer will be more 110 like it was last year.
Snowfall in Syracuse has been PATHETIC this year. Just the way I like it! :)
Typically we have around 100 inches of snow up to this point, but this year, we're only at 40 inches.
We are on track to have the least snowiest winter since records have been kept. Bizarre.

BTW, we're supposed to get 1-3 inches out of this storm that is affecting Dawn right now. Like all other storms this year, we'll see.
It has been a steady rain all day here today. I'm not sure how bad it is out, as the ground is frozen. I wish it would be able to soak in...we really need it!

They are putting the ice warnings out now, but it's still above freezing at the moment. The driving tonight should be interesting 8O (Todd drives a courier van 2am - 10-11am). I still have agility class, at 7:30, Todd dropped the dogs off to my car. Hope it's ok later.
Our snow started last night, We have about 10" of wet, heavy stuff and Carl is having a hard time trying to snow blow it. The electricity has been flipping on and off but there are a lot of outages up here so so far we've been lucky.

Was suppose to go for blood work this morn, clinic called at 6:00 a.m. to let us know they wouldn't be open. Lots of the nurses etc travel quite a ways so better safe than sorry.

We could get up to 16" before it's over but now it's mostly rain as we are about 32 degrees. That will be worse.

Butchy was hopping thru the snow like a bunny and now he's in with me dripping all over the place, have the mop in hand.
Wow, you hit the jackpot!!

We still have no snow - it was all rain after the 1st round of snow. They even were saying on the news that Mankato was the line - to the north snow, to the south rain.
I saw we had almost an inch of rain - that would have been tons of snow! 8O 8O
It poured and thundered...but thankfully we were just above freezing, so too cold for the severe weather. Lots of bad stuff south of us :( :(
I have friends to the north saying the same about the snow - too heavy for the snow blowers...need to shovel, or get someone to plow. :?
Here, just rain.

In the beginning of the week, or was it last week, kinda run together, we had snow that was wet and heavy. It was enough that it needed to be re-arranged and I went out with the intention of snow blowing. HA, I had to shovel the whole dang thing. The snow blower got clogged right away. Really bummed because it started on the first pull :o

Texoma is finally back up to normal levels - the North Texas Water District didn't take any water out last summer due to the mussels. When they take the water this summer, it is going to be bad for us at the lake. Lavon isn't close to normal.
I want one of the water dehumidifiers/collectors - from the guy in Roundrock.
