Healing Thoughts for Whitey the Beagle, Please!

My brother-in-law was on his regular evening walk tonight with his 9 year old beagle, Whitey. Apparently, some idiot left his aggressive pit-mix unleashed, and he came flying across the road to attack poor Whitey. Like any terrier, once he had him, he wouldn't let go. Friends, neighbors, the attacking dog's owner (who got bitten in the melee, by the way) couldn't separate them by the time the police arrived. I don't know how they got them apart finally (pepper spray maybe?), but Whitey is now at the vet.

The vet is keeping him sedated and on fluids for the shock, while they figure out how to address all of his injuries. I don't have a lot of details, but this sounds pretty devastating. If anyone can spare some healing energy for Whitey tonight, it would be greatly appreciated.

It's not the best picture, but here is Whitey meeting Benson for the first time this past Thanksgiving:

(For the record, I have nothing against pit bulls. They can be incredibly wonderful dogs, with the right owner.)

Oh, no. I'm so terribly sorry.
Saying a prayer for little Whitey.

:ghug:

And you're right... it's not the dogs, it's the owners... it's their
ultimate responsibility to control their dog no matter what breed.
OMG! This is why I no longer walk my dogs. Too many loose dogs - and not always pits. We were attacked a few years ago by four Sha-peis ( spelling)...

Sending healing thoughts out to Whitey! Hope he has a full recovery!
Hubby is on the phone with his brother right now. Whitey's injuries were just too severe, and he passed away just a few minutes ago.

Thanks for the kind thoughts.

:ghug:
Oh poor thing! I'm sorry Whitey lost his life!!

....and I hope the brother sues the socks off the owner!
Oh my- so very very sorry the brother's loss. :ghug: :ghug: So completely uncalled for-

My thoughts are with all of you--
I am so sorry.
Im so sorry this happened. My thoughts go out to your bro in law.

Its absolutely awful when something like this happens and it was completely preventable. I hope they take away this guys dog and make him pay all medical expenses and then some.

Oh no!
How horrible.
I'm so sorry.
What a senseless, tragic thing to happen.

Did this happen here in the Syracuse area?
No, down in Delaware, where we used to live.

BTW, the attacking dog? Unleashed. Unlicensed. Unvaccinated.

Idiots.
:( :( :( I'm so sorry :( :( :(
