Sleep in room or crate?

We've always had Kenny in the crate but we were thinking about letting him out of crate to sleep in our room without it but weren't sure if that was a good habit to start. Any thoughts?

He seems to prefer crates at the place we board him too as he has the option to be out in a big room with other dogs or in a crate in the same room and he always goes to crate they say.

mine slept in their crate till I could trust them to sleep through the night without potty accidents or getting up and tearing something up.
That is what we were hoping but then we don't want to have separation anxiety start if we have to crate him...ya know?
We went a couple night letting Caitlyn sleep in our bedroom and not in her crate. This stopped because she was so darned restless, it took her a good 30 minutes to settle down before she finally dropped for the night. Upon reverting back to putting her in her crate, she was fine. It's like it never happened. That might be because it was only a couple nights and not like several weeks.

I'd say from what we know about Kenny, he'll be fine. As long has he still has his crate available throughout the day so he knows his safe place is still there. This is how Zoey is. Given a choice between her crate and the bedroom, she'll choose the bedroom at night. But during the day, she'll happily go into her crate for her self-imposed down time. That's really kinda cute.

could you put her to bed in the crate and not shut the door? Or do you want her in the room, not roaming the house? I'd say if she likes the crate, leave her there. Later, when you can absolutely trust her in the house, let her decide. Friend with Pyrs always crates at night, no matter their age.
I can't put the crate in our bedroom as he doesnt like beds or blankets so he makes a ton of noise turning around and rolling and stuff. It's too loud haha
Benson's crate is in our bedroom, but we started leaving it open overnight when she was about 6 months old. She spends about half the night in her crate, and the rest in various spots around the bedroom and bathroom. We've never had any issues with closing her in her crate when we leave the house.

We also switched her to the Noz2Noz soft-sided crate around that time, since her wire crate was getting too small. If you're close to needing a new crate, this might be a good chance to get something a little quieter.
We have a big one already and he likes it so I dont want to change that. I guess we could try some towels or something again but it's most because he hits the side. We can always give it a try?
my bear has always had the run of the entire house...i did nt even know about crates when he came to me as a rescue..every night i make a bed up for him out of a duvet on my landing outside my bedroom because it seems he likes to sleep between me and the front door..his guarding instincts maybe ?
