Calling all Grooming Experts! What # Blade to use???

Ok-- I am a terrible Mom. I know NOTHING about grooming. The last time I tried to do anything with Max between trips to the salon, he looked like Larry, Moe AND Curly... :(

I have never taken the time to research, or learn, the best instructions to give Trina, his groomer, for the look I want. She shaves his under side -- for sanitary reasons- so he has to have a look that blends with that. He is well over due for grooming right now. With Mom's sickness, and a rough start to the new Year-- he has been lucky to get brushed every day.

He has an appointment Thursday, and I really need to think about his "do". She does what she calls a Puppy flip-- but it is too short for my liking. I want him shorter, but still fluffy. What is a good # blade for that look? He can't tolerate standing for a scissor cut-- which is what I REALLY want.

I have no clue.

Higher the number, the shorter the cut. Dogs looked nekkid with 10, but if mats are to skin, that's what is needed. If you can use something between 3-7, great!

More likely to get the fluff you want, it will be a scissors job with the clipper underneath for sanitary purposes.
