SHEEPIEPALOOZA HERE WE COME!!!! YAY!!!

:wag: :wag:
I am so excited..pretty sure I am going to go as this will be my first full year with my rescued Sheepie, Dexter.

I am from St Louis and will be staying with my parents, so will that be an issue? if I dont stay at the hotel am I still able to attend the events?

Also, I am a little confused, but is the Frenchtown dogpark pass separate from the main picnic on Saturday at Purina?

Thank you! I can't wait to meet other sheepies and their people. Dexter seems to be the only one up here in Northern Virginia.

Also,I am a little confused, but is the Frenchtown dogpark pass separate from the main picnic on Saturday at Purina? YES...THE DOGPARK PASS (AND A COPY OF YOUR SHOT RECORD ..well your pups shot records..  NEED TO BE SENT TO ONE PERSON..............THE PICNIC INFORMATION SHOULD BE SENT TO A DIFFERENT PERSON.

Thank you! I can't wait to meet other sheepies and their people. Dexter seems to be the only one up here in Northern Virginia.
I can promise you that you and Dexter will have a ball and the weekend will just fly by!!! Can't wait to meet you!!!
The dog park will mainly be for Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. It gives us a place for the dogs to play before dinner on Friday and after Sunday's lunch.

The dog park has graciously rented to us every Sheepiepalooza. We will be sharing it with the regular members and therefore we need to complete all the forms normally required of them. At $5/per dog for the weekend it is a deal and worth it so your dog can play with the others.

It is always fun to see the reaction of the handful of dogs that venture into the park with a herd of wild Sheepies.
Thank you Val and SheepieMommy for answering my questions! I cant wait! :excited:
Made our reservations for Chuck, Violet and me. So excited. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Howie is heading to St Louis! :excited:

And Mark & I are going along for the ride.

Forms were filled out and mailed in this past week, hotel is booked and we have the time off work.

I am building an auction item..not a doghouse but something made of wood. :lmt:

We are looking forward to meeting everyone and playing with all the sheepies!

I will be doing my forms tomorrow and getting them sent off.

However, I realized I will need to wait until next month to send in my dog park form - as Bond won't have his rabies shot for another 2 weeks. I thought it would be too confusing to send it now for Chewie and then again in 2 weeks for Bond.

I'll have to wait until Thursday to call for the hotel, working 12 hour shifts (and no personal phone calls) just messes with planning sometimes!
Teddy will be due for his yearly rabies the end of April. Should I wait to send the form for the dog park or can I send it now with his proof of shots last year?

Cindy
Just booked our Room. Still a little nervous about this.

Any idea how the tee shirts run, if they run large or small or just normal. Trying to figure out sizes for me and my daughter.

Getting excited!!

The shirts run pretty normal. I love them, as they are a bit thinner material, and they fit nicely. They aren't stiff and bulky like some. Over the years I have gotten both large and xlarge, and I went with xlarge this year as I.... 1) - sadly gained weight this year  and 2) I like them roomy and big.
I havent sent in the park pass one yet either. Ryleigh is due for her shots too. 8O

I ordered xlg for both me and my husband, I'd rather it be big and roomy than tight.
How many dogs can you have in one room at the hotel? David thinks that the car is the only issue, but seriously, who is going to let us into a hotel with 3 sheepdogs?

The limit is 3 dogs.... :hearts:
And I know Kristine had more 8) 8)

Gracie can always stay in the room with us. Then if she happens to end up in the car on the way home I have an excuse.
Sorry...I just saw this....

The shirts are pretty true to size and like Dawn said they are a lighter weight..

And Yes Dawn is correct..it is normally 2 dogs to a room...but for us????? Since all of the sheepiepeople are so good they agreed to 3 in a room.

If you have any other questions, feel free to start a thread...As the event gets closer, we will be posting more information. :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
***** Dog Park Shots **********

Good question about shot records!!!!

They need to be up to date on Sheepiepalooza so if you are due for shot records you have two options....

1) Send in your signed form to Carol now with a note that you will be sending or e-mailing your shot records to her after your appointment (give her a date please)

OR

2) You can wait until after your appointment and send them both at the same time

It is up to you. Do not wait on your other forms though, especially with the shirts and bandanas. The earlier your forms are in helps us with the planning as well.

Thanks for asking.
Thanks Judi, I'll send her a note that I'll send the updated shot record in May. I'll mail all my other forms tomorrow.

Cindy
Okay, made my hotel reservation this morning and mailed all my forms and checks! Now just waiting for the end of May to get here!

Cindy
Are y'all making your room reservations online, or calling the hotel?

I'm a bit of a slacker. And, do I have to do a formfor the dog park since I won't be bringing a dog (of my own. I realize I will be doing emergency back-up dog handling though).
I did my online. Make sure you use the group code to get discount.
Are the forms online somewhere?

The very beginning of this thread. There is a link to click on and all the forms come up. It's pretty slick!
There is link for them in the first post of this thread.
I called the 800 phone number on the form.

Hey Carol, Val or Judi - Carol's email address on the forms is not a valid email address......so not able to contact her with a question!

The group rates for the hotel are only Thursday thru SUNDAY AM - and many of us will be staying thru Monday morning. Just wanted to have her change it. (I went to do it online and that's what popped up).
I made my reservation from the phone so I got the rate thru monday morning.

That's what I'm doing too.
This date thing happened last year too, so I was hoping it would be OK for this year...... :lmt:
I did mine online and got the rate thur-monday. I think I did anyway.... $69.95 per night= $320.84 with tax for 4 nights.. does that sound about right??
:lmt:
We would really love to come. I have to teach on Friday. They will not let us take off a day before a holiday and it is so close to the end of the year. One question- if we didn't leave before Friday afternoon how much would we miss? What could we still be there for? We are coming from Cincinnati. Thanks.

Bonnie,Dale and Carley
Ive never been to one but from what I understand the main pic nic is on Saturday. And I believe dinner on Sunday.. Not sure what all is happening on Friday. Our kids are off Friday and Monday that weekend. Friday is a bad weather make up day for ice and snow---dont think we have to worry about that this year.

(yes our schools close if we get a couple of inches of snow or ice)
Ryleigh wrote:

That sounds right - that's the King bed price. It's a little more for 2 doubles, $70 - something.
When I called they did say the Kings were all gone, but they "pulled 2 more into the group" - so I guess that means one is left?!
I'm reserved Friday thru Monday morning. :D :D
yes we did the king bed -- for Ryleigh.
WOW!!! 8O 8O 8O I am amazed at how quick the rooms are going!!!!

I just emailed our rep for the PearTree and ask her the change the date to end Monday, May 28th~~so that should not be a problem!

I also asked her for a spreadsheet of the room reservations so 'we' can block off more rooms if we need them.

Thanks, Dawn and everyone else for letting us know what glitches that are out there.

Please feel free to contact us any time.

Carol's email is: carol@dogsterduds.com

But she is having issues with her computer, so you can contact me until it is fixed.

You should still come. :D :D Many of the more local people don't show up until Saturday anyway.
Not sure how long of a drive it is, but assuming you would get in really late Friday night??
Most of us Thursday and Friday arrivers do it as it's a vacation and we live far enough away, and enjoy the extra days. And many will be still there thru Monday morning to take off and drive home. :D
We don't plan on leaving until Early Friday from Michigan. I think we are figuring it's going to be an 8 hour drive. Not including stops etc.

Just reserved our rooms! Papers on the way!!!

wootwoot!!! :yay:
I made my hotel reservations last night.
Just need to mail in the forms now. Have to wait for ex to send me Zeke's shot records.

Room is reserved and forms are in envelopes ready to mail! So excited for our Dog-cation!!!!

:clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
We have reserved rooms Thursday night until Monday morning, but I a bit worried about the rest of our paperwork getting there by the 24th. I will send it special delivery, so hopefully it will get there in time.
Ive been in DC for the past 4 days on a HS band trip ( ) and just saw ths!!! ^^^^ YAY Im so glad yall are coming. Gracie can room with us if she needs to .
Kim, are you coming????? I hope so!

Rooms reserved, forms mailed today (express for the t-shirt form, I hope it gets there in time!). They are still going to be laying people off at work, and I might well be one of them, but the week of Sheepiepalooza nothing will be happening so we decided, well, Mady decided, that we should just go. I am thinking of it as therapy, as work is, of course, a stressful place to be right now. What better therapy can there be but hanging out with sheepies and their people! Of course, we will have 3 dogs and 2 people, so don't be surprised if we hand you a leash....

I like the way you think~~~I feel the same way!!!!! I am so glad Mady nudged you into it...SHE knows what is best for the ''family'... :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
I might need some one on one time with each of the therapy dogs attending. If Heart can't make me feel better, then all hope is lost!
I'm in negotiations to be there! I would have to fly in Saturday, make Auntie Paula share her room with me, and then drive home with her. I'm really excited! Hoping I can make this happen. I've wanted to go there for YEARS!!!!

Deb, that would be so fun!
By flying, I'm guessing you would have to come dogless though? :(
If so, we will share!
We would LOVE to come.. but I worry how Max would hold up with his physical "issues". :(
We have our room reserved but I am not sure what happened to the other paperwork. My out-of-work husband has moved all kinds of important things. Our van is still being repaired. They said at least another week. I will try to find papers and get them in the mail Monday.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

Bathroom issues, or activity?
Maybe Val could get you a schedule of activities early (we still don't know what is planned) so you could decide if it would work.

Both Dawn. No way he can run and jump and play. Although he enjoyed Henry and Maggie when Val was here... and seemed to know his limits. Of course it was 110 in the shade that day, so all the dogs were laid back in the house in the air conditioning.

As far as potty issues- well- he just goes. Anywhere, anytime. He can wear a wrap for the peeing, but the other end, just plops. Sometimes he will look back , and then look at me like "Did I do that???.

Both things are managable, and he would LOVE it. Of course it goes without saying that I would be thrilled to come and meet everyone. He is a wonderful travel companion. He lays in the back of the CRV and loves it. He is very structured, and as long as he is with Mommy or Daddy, he goes along happily...
Well...Lori~~~ I vote for you coming down and experiencing a great Sheepie Weekend~~~~~ We will take special care with Max..I promise~~~~~~
I did it! I just booked our hotel. We're going to try our hardest to be there!!!
:( I'm not going to be able to be there. The one way airfare from Chicago to St. Louis is really prohibitive. I guess I'll try again next year.

My heart will be with y'all. :(

Deb,
I think Chicago to St. Louis is about a 5 hour drive.
Is it possible you could drive? Or maybe catch a ride with someone else coming from the Chicago area?

I'd bet it would be faster to drive than to fly anyways. Especially when you factor in getting to the airport 1-2 hours early, waiting in line, going to the ticket counter, checking bags, going thru security, waiting for your bag, etc.
I was driving back with Paula, since I can't take Friday off. That's why I needed a one way ticket. It would be silly for us both to drive both ways.
I know it is too late for us to do this, this year, but I REALLY WANT TO DO IT NEXT YEAR!! So I want someone here to keep scatterbrained ME in the loop for reservations and everything Sheepiepalooza related. Okay???

Our youngest graduates High School next month and leaves for college in August so I need to clear those milestones and I really want to meet all of you and bring my sheepies for some fun!!!

I don't want to speak for Val, Judi, and the rest of the St. Louis members, but I was under the impression that there will not be a Sheepiepalooza in 2013 mainly because the OES nationals will be in St. Louis in 2013.
Plus, traditionally, Sheepiepalooza is held every other year.
