Missing my Buddy today

One week ago today I had to put my 7 year old OES Buddy to sleep :(

Buddy developed suddenly they believe an immune mediated thrombocytopenia. He was bleeding from his nose and while we were trying to get his medication started with some set back with the prednisone irritating his stomach, his bleeding got worse and I knew it was the right thing to do for him despite it breaking every fiber of my heart.

I am so lost without him! He was my first dog of my adult life, my dog. We adopted him when he was 3 years old. I had 4 wonder happy years with him. I just wish he was still here. My house is so empty without him. I have no other animals. I have no kids, he was my furry baby :o)

I am glad that this site is here. It's comforting to find comfort with others who have experienced a loss as well.

Rest in Peace Buddy, I miss you so much!

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Buddy. I hope that your memories will comfort you and that Buddy is over the bridge running around chasing the other dogs! :ghug:
So very sorry to hear of Buddy's passing! I hope time will ease your pain and you will remember all of your happy memories of your time with Buddy.
You're with good people. Many here, including myself have gone through what you're going through. We lost our first Sheepie, Bentley about 18 months ago. It was devistating. He too developed a sudden medical issue, bone cancer. To this day it hurts.

With Buddy, remembering his idiocincrosies will help, a lot. Just because he's gone, he should never be forgotten. Speak of him with pride and fervor.

God speed Buddy. Be sure to say howdy all the othe Sheepies you meet when you get to the Bridge.

I am so sorry and we have been thru the same thing. It hurts so bad but try to remember how much you loved him and all the fun things you did together. They stay in our hearts forever.
:ghug: So very sorry for the loss of your sweet Buddy. :ghug: :ghug:

I'm very sorry for your loss of Buddy, 7 years is way too young, and 4 years is far too short.

I'm glad you're here with us.
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.
Wishing you happy memories and a peaceful heart. :ghug:

So sorry for your loss :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
Very sorry to hear about Buddy.   We lost our dog 8 months ago and I still cry about it. They come into our hearts and fill it so completely. And that same heart breaks when we say goodbye. It isn't easy, just take 1 day at a time. That lonely house is something alot of us have experienced. It took months before I would touch Pooh Bear's collar and when I did, I tried to inhale his smell, but it was gone. We have a spot on a bookshelf with his ashes, his collar and a special letter from our granddaughter saying how much she misses him. We adopted an owner surrender a couple of months later. We weren't really looking, but everything just fell into place, hard to explain. Angus has been a joy and I know Pooh Bear had one of his big paws in all of that! Just remember we are all here if you want to chat.
I'm so sorry. How devastating. :(

I'm very sorry you lost your beloved Buddy. It is so hard to get through but I hope every day your pain eases a little.

I understand, same here, no kids, just my fur babies that I love to pieces. I lost Cooper in Sept and miss him terribly but I smile and chuckle now as I recall many fond memories we had with him.

Take care.
I am so very sorry for the loss of Buddy! I think it must be so much harder for you not having another sheepie and I imagine it is terribly lonely. You did what was the best thing for him in spite of it was the hardest thing which shows your great love!

Even having though another sheepie (mix) we still couldn't stand to be in the house and left abruptly for a short trip.

It was really comforting for me to go through all of the pictures that I had. Maybe that's something that will help you? We'd love to see any pictures that you'd like to share. Don't be surprised if you feel the need to do that and to cry for a very very very long time. And that will be completely normal.

Everyone's different but some find a new sheepie right away to help fill the void. Another sheepie is never meant to replace your very dearly loved sheepie but for some it's very comforting to get another sheepie right away and there's nothing wrong with that. We've been lucky that we'd always had two dogs at the same time.

Or you may feel like us and not be ready.

There are rescue's listed on the front page of this web site if ever needed. And directions to breeders as well.

I also found reading all of the other beautiful memorials in this Rainbow Bridge section very comforting.

Sometimes it's helpful to post your thoughts and get support, we understand here and will support you in your grief. :ghug:
I'm very sorry for the loss of Buddy.

No kids here either and I dread the day one of our boys goes to the bridge. So sorry for your loss.

Thank you all for your kind words and encourgement to help get me through. Today the vets office sent a sympathy card with many of them signing it. Of course it made me cry and I know I will cry again soon when I get the call to come pick Buddy's ashes up and bring him back home.

I know one day I will get another sheepie and can't wait! I love their personalities! Such a great breed! But I will let Buddy help guide me when the time is right and the right one comes along. I will post a picture soon!

Thank you all again for your support and I look forward to our furture interactions!
The best guidance you can have is your Buddy. Let him tell you when and who. Buddy kwows you better than anyone and I'll bet it will be sooner than you think. He won't want to see you lonely.
