Grumpy Harry

Last few days Harry has been restless and grumbling especially at night. I've been worried about bloat so have had little sleep. Last night I made him get onto the bed with DH, cleared a spot for him by repositioning MO and snuggled with him until he went to sleep. Tonight he was mumbling and pacing about the house again. I finally got him back onto DH's bed......a place all the dogs love....Select Comfort, guess they have their own special sleep number....and gave him a big go over......he has an infected tooth.....gum swelling and discolored tooth. No wonder! Popped a big Rimadyl into him and he drifted off to sleep. Checked the tooth about 4 hours later and looked worse, so popped a cephalaxin in him and will call the vet tomorrow. It's not the canine but one just in front.....or was it in back  He's needed a teeth cleaning for awhile......so my fault for not tending to it. Poor guy. He's been trying to tell me something was wrong but just didn't know how.

Oh poor baby. I hope he feels better after the vet visit today.
Poor Harry. The good thing about mouth stuff (human, canine, equine) is that it heals quickly. Here's hoping to a quick vet visit and a speedy recovery.
That would do it! :(

Simon is my dental guy...bad teeth are a pain for sure. :( :(

I hope Harry gets some good drugs and a happy mouth soon! :cheer:
Hope Harry gets some relief soon, you too.
Poor Harry--hope all is better soon!
Poor buddy... a tooth ache would make anyone grumpy. He'll feel better real soon after it's pulled.

Panda sheared off an outer side of each of her top big molars because of Nylabones. They're banned here because they've
caused broken teeth and over $1,500 in dental work. I felt the two teeth should be pulled but was told a few times they
were sound despite the pockets in the gums. I took her to another vet and had them x-rayed and pulled. The one was
fractured below the gum line and abscessed, the other on it's way. No more stinky breath either. Yup... makes you feel bad
when it's missed. :(
poor guy, hope he gets to feeling better soon.

I got lucky with Ryleigh, she loves to have her teeth brushed, wont leave the bathroom in the morning till I do it.
Ryleigh could come teach my guys. Jack is the only one only because he loves the toothpaste. Otherwise would prefer I keep stuff out of his mouth unless he can eat it.

Wednesday Harry will lose a tooth and a second one is up for debate.....have to get underneath the big swollen gum to see what's going on. My call on the pain pill and antibiotic were good calls and will continue to Wednesday.
Awww poor baby! I am glad you were able to find the cause of his grumpy behavior. Given all the possibilities we worry about, a rotten tooth is not too bad. Hope he feels better soon. :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
Ryleigh has a whole routine we have to go through every morning-- brush her teeth, brush her hair (just the bangs) then put her make up on ( use my blush brush on her nose- no make up really but I have to act like it) my husband stands there and laughs. One day she went in with him and wouldnt let him leave the bathroom till he did every thing- he was yelling- what do I do. haha it was so funny to watch him do it all.

Now my labs- another story, they run anytime you try to get them near the bathroom. My yellow had to have her teeth cleaned and she almost died on the table. They told us some dogs just cant be put under. That was scarey.

Hope your boy feels better soon.
LOL! Would have loved to watch your DH do the morning routine!

Harry has been Mr. Reliable. Aside from serious hip and knee problems.....straight legs in the rear, torns ACLs he's the dog you tend to over look. Obviously. The bill print out includes past visits....he hasn't been to the vet since 2008....and that was for rabies shot. He's 6 years over do for distemper...which is fine by me. Less vaxes the better.

His nick name is Harry Kiss-no-Grrrrr. He loves everyone including the vet, lots of kisses and tail wags.
Thinking of you Harry! Poor little thing. Hope your vet visit goes well in a few days and you get fixed up. Mom hang in there you've sure been through a lot these last months with your beloveds.
Poor Harry. Toothaches and earaches are right up there on the misery list. Give him a hug for me! :ghug:
Ouch, Harry, that is the worst. Hope you feel better soon.
Good luck tomorrow Harry! You should be feeling better soon! :hearts:
Poor Harry. Is he doing better?

You really wish dogs could talk when it comes to their health so we can help them sooner and relieve pain. Sweet grumpy guy let you know the only way he could.

I have lost count on how many times I've said this very same thing. :!: Hope all goes well with Harry. He'll be feeling much better soon.
I'll take him over within the hour. I is very confused, he didn't get breakfast with the other dogs. So he and I snuggled on the bed and slept curled up together for 2 hours. He is not good with separation, so I'll be feeling bad for him until he returns home. Then we'll snuggle some more.
How is he doing? Hope all went well and he is back to normal soon. :ghug:

That sounds great but I wish it wasn't because he is sick. :( I am hoping for good news.
Vet called, Harry lost 3 teeth. OUCH! The purple dead one up front of the canine on top (I forget teeth names), lower right molar hidden behind swelling that was rotten in the core and draining ( 8O ) and an upper molar that was significantly chipped. No wonder he was grumpy and mumbling around here.

Soft food for almost a week. I'll pick him up in 3 hours.
He'll be feeling so much better getting all that out of his mouth!
You'll be spoiling him some more real soon. :hearts:
Sounds like Simon - he has crappy teeth. He's had 14 total pulled :!:

Now you will have a much happier Harry! :clappurple:
Yay!
Poor Harry, no wonder he was so miserable. At least he'll be getting hugs from his Mom. Give him a big ole :ghug: from us. Copper has crummy teeth too. Even with regular cleanings his teeth don't stay clean, I gave him a bully stick and he chipped his tooth. 8O
3 Days later Harry decided to show me his dental work. The lower right molar......isn't the one they took, it was the lower right canine 8O He just came up to me and smiled, "Me Harry 3 big teeth now." Still haven't seen the rear excavation, he's still protecting that, but other two are right up front. No wonder he has pain pills until Monday!

Uh oh, I just heard someone barf........... :sidestep:
