Not sure if it's a cow or cow-pig combo, but Zoey makes sort of an "ahhhhruuuuup" noise quite a bit. It seems to happen mostly when she yawns, but we've also noticed it happens without yawns. Other weird noises come from her mouth but the spelling eludes me at the moment.
The OES I had growing up, Muffy, used to do that exact same thing. We called it getting "silly" and when we would ask her if she was going to get silly she would do it. Mopsy gets "silly" by making the same noises but no paw action, instead it is rolling around on her back. She also knows the word silly and will also do it when we say the word. If they were already getting silly just saying SILLY made it intensify. Thanks for bringing back a funny memory of Muffy.
ABSOLUTELY!!!! I always wondered what the laying on the side scratching at the carpet thing was!!!! One thing that has been sooooo enlightening about this forum is finding out that the things I thought were idiosyncratic of Tasker are common sheepie traits!!!!
Beau does that, too. Recently, though, his talking has taken a slightly different form. He sounds like a Wookie and with his facial expressions, I'm sure he's conversing with me....if only I could understand him! :D
Too funny Beuareguard's Mom! My husband always says Mopsy sounds like a Wookie. Who knows maybe there is an uncredited Sheepie in the Star Wars movies.

Speaking of Star Wars - check out SAULMR's avatar: Darth Sheepie (haha)
Lucy is my vocal dog. Sometimes I carry on long conversations with her, which is cute. However, sometimes she'll just lay on the floor and moan-- not in pain or anything, just to make noise. Clyde also is not allowed within 1 foot of her while she's lying down or she starts making all sorts of noise, which leads him to bark, which leads to more noise, then barking... you get the picture!
So far, Jasper just barks, whines, and howls. He has the most pitiful sounding howl.
TAMMY, YOU ARE RIGHT IT DOES SOUND MORE LIKE A WOOKIE!!!! I CALLED IT COW TALK BECAUSE A CORRECT ANALOGY ESCAPED ME...THAT IS SOOOO FUNNY...

TASKERS MOM, THATS WHY I ALSO FIND THIS SITE COMPLETELY ENTHRALLING....I NEVER KNEW THAT DOGS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY HAD SIMILAR IF NOT THE SAME TRAITS... I CALL PANDAS CARPET SCRATCHING "CLEANING THE CARPET" IT MAKES ME FEEL BETTER TO THINK THAT SHE IS CLEANING UP SOME OF THE MESSES SHE MAKES..IE BRINGING IN GRAVEL, GRASS, RAW HIDES STUCK TO THE RUG, AND MUDDY PAW PRINTS.... :D
LOL
I call it his "sheepie aerobics"!!!!
I agree completely with you both, Darcy & Tasker's Mom! :D
I've never been around an OES until I got Beaureguard. It's been a godsend to find this board and learn so much about the breed! :D

Plus, it's just plain FUN to meet you all (or "y'all" as we say here in the South)!!
I think the cow noises and wookie noises are completely unique to the OES, both of mine are guilty, as they get older sometimes these little noises subside, or go away all together, and then you miss them.

So enjoy your little hefer!

Up.
oes.org now ranks third on Google for "Cow Noises"

LOL.... my puppers don't really talk to me, unless is Dancer barking like a poodle at something out of place.

Funny mooing addition Ron.
Love it Ron....
I thought I only had a messed up dog. Bunker always does the carpet thing. Her latest is laying om the floor moaning.???? She's not in pain and she really only does it when I'm on the phone. She is like a 3 year old sometimes. Ignors me all day until I get on then the phone, the its Mom pet me, Mom look at me, Mom I'm talking to you.
Forget having babies, I;ve got a sheepie.
My sheepie Tommy used to scratch carpet before he would lay down. He didn't make wookie noises though, but my other dog Rusty does it. Sometimes when you talk to him he does make this noise like he is trying to answer, it's so funny. He does it all the time.

Tanya
did my computer just MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO????????????????????

Ron, you must be feeling better!!!!!

Taskers Mom
Yup, I just checked it out, he's right, #3 on google!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UDDERLY Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
***GROAN***

Ginny .. That was bad :D
We hear the wookie sound when he is upset if he can't see us
because we are in another room.

Moos once in a while.

Rapid fire wookie talking if we are making dinner, that includes
meat , steak or turkey. It's a gentle reminder- Mom, don't
forget me!

Shouldn't Google just start a Got Sheepies? listing :D

RON'S FAULT
It has been ages since I heard a sheepie Mooo. Then Jack came to live here and now I get to hear the whole darn barnyard: cow, pig, goat, bear (ok, not barnyard).......plus that oh so gentle sheepdog bark  I've told him I much prefer the barnyard sounds to the bark........but he won't comply.

Annie also makes a lot of noises that sound a lot like mooing and pig snorting. She especially does it when FINALLY lays down after realizing she won't get any table food. We like to think she's saying "You guys stink, this is so unfair". She also makes these noises when she stretches on her side. Must be a common trait. Cracks me up every time.
Yes, Ron, we are going to milk this.....at least until the cows come home. Yes, udderly disgusting.
I think we'd better bag this... although I don't want to horn in on the festivities. Oh, if only I were calf the man I used to be, I'd steer this conversation away from all this bull, alas I am but -errrr-, just going to skim over this topic, to get to the cream of the forum.
Ha-Ha :P !
I guess I have a defective sheepie....all I get is the occasional bark and some whining when she needs to go "out".
However, she is worse than a 3 year old when I am on the phone...she gets right on my feet and tries to trip me up and then goes to try and bite my shirt. I either have to close her or myself in another room or sit on a high bar stool.
Wookie stuff, she is in the living room watching the newest Star Wars movie with the boys (actually, she is waiting for popcorn to drop!).

ps-checked out the milk site and actually have been to Lamb's Farm in IL...great place!
ROTFLMAO

You all know he will NEVER run out of meat for this topic now... but it's ok, I'll keep my beef to myself.
you all just tipped me off my feet...
So who is going to "super size " this portion?
I'm moooooooooving over and letting the experts handle this thread.

Taskers Mom,

I'm shocked, I've never known you to be a COWard :P

I better be good or Ron may lock the thread.

Oh well, let the chips fall where they may..................

All right, so we have mooing sheepies, and wookie sheepies, but what about sheepie sheepies? Or is that a baaaaaahhhhd topic?
Karen :)
 Oh boy, here we go AGAIN! LOL
That is too funny..my puppy does the same thing..we always say hes like a wookie. He only does it when he cant see us though..But he also rolls around on the carpet and bites it.....
