Good Luck to everyone at Westminister!!!!

Does anyone know how to look up the OES entries for Westminister 2012?? I have been trying but I can't find any info...
I think I heard that Cathy Drummonds was going to be there. Don't know if this is accurate but maybe.

What a lovely surprise! Have a great time!!
Is there anyway to see the breed specific portions of the show? Maybe streamed online?
While I don't mind seeing the final class and best of show competitions, I'd really like to see the breed specific competitions.

2:25pm Monday.

Enjoy!
Ali, what hotel are you in? Sounds wonderful!

I usually go every year and its so exciting to see in person. Last year my breeder was in with my Bella's brother littermate, Major Attraction. The breeder came to our house and stayed with us for the weekend and we all went into the City for the show. It was great fun!

If anyone is close enough to get there, I recommend going in. So much to see and you get to meet all the breeders and the dogs...and of course, lots of goodies to buy!
Las Vegas is giving the OES pretty darn good odds at winning! Wouldn't that be exciting????

http://shine.yahoo.com/pets/playing-the ... nster.html
My sis lives in Vegas... maybe I should get her go drop and $100 on the Sheepie to win. That would make for a nice payday...

Vance
I have friends in Vegas that could make a bet for me too. Aren't we due to win? I think a sheepie hasn't won since the 1970s...?
Do we know who is entering this year? That would tell us a lot, wouldn't it?

That's Mary's (clydal) dog. I've met Mary & Apolo before. Great dog.
I'm making the trip up tomorrow as a spectator, will post who the winner(s) are as soon as I can.

Maxmm/Mandy (who we never see on here on the forum anymore!) will also be there. I'm not sure how many photos I'll be taking, if any of the festivities... 8)

It's always hard to tell who will win BIS. A lot of the top dogs in the country get snubbed for BIS, so it's a crap shoot.

Here are the Top Ten OES up to December 2011. The # in front is how many breed points they have won.

Old English Sheepdogs
474 GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon Blue Thunder "Elvis" K Richardson/J Marder
393 GCH CH Snowdown When In Rome C Grady/D Freiheit
235 GCH CH Cottonwood Man In The Moon D Caswell/R Caswell
230 GCH CH Wylecote Woolgatherer A Ritchie/W Schlitt/G Swails
203 GCH CH Aryakas Hermes D Graesser
199 GCH CH Windfall Slam Dunk A Pietrocola
153 GCH CH Bugaboo's Big Shot C Johnson/H Johnson
129 GCH CH Barkshire's Jim Dandy J Collen
115 GCH CH To-Jo's Sweet Tune Lanward A Popp/L Williams
109 GCH CH Masquerade Mikey Likes It J Hewitt/M Harris

Lambluv's Elvis is #3 in all of the Herding Dogs.

I will still be cheering for the Beardie, Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins "Roy". The breeder and partial owner, is also an OES breeder. He's the most winning Beardie in the breed's history, and #2 of the Herding Dogs right now.

the downloadable PDF from the Westminster site says OES is 12:15 in ring 5-- that's going on NOW, if they aren't running late.

Does anyone know anything more? Who's there? Have they started? The site isn't offering live feed of the OES judging; so frustrating!
never mind; I found a link to the entrants:

http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/20 ... ngshe.html

Good luck everyone!
and they are listing best of breeds here, as they get them done!

I think the are behind. Everyone in the chat are beaking about how behind they are.
when I was there last year the sheepdogs ran about an hour late. So I'm not surprised; its got to be a zoo to try and coordinate.

I don't want the live one? The herding is showing the Bouvier de Flanders, but the winner for that is already posted?
Yep herding shows the Bouviers des Flandres now. Who has been asked if your dog was a Bouvier? I had a woman adamant that mine are Bouviers. ah think I know what I have jeesh!
OMG they are monsters! wow big!
Livefeed is showing French Bulldogs; such a cute breed!
10 German Shepherds ahed of the OES in that time slot will put the judging back about 30 minutes or more.
Pulik herding/toy. WOW look at those dreadies. Maybe the OES won't be on until I get home and I can watch it with the dogs on the big screen :wag:
ACK oes on live!
Shooter went BOB. BOS was one of Schulte's girls. Elvis got an AOM & I am not familiar with the 2nd AOM winner. Written results should be up soon.
All those big bums was awesome. I love the littler guy that placed. Haha and when the one started humping the lady in pink.
BOB bugaboo big shot
BOS shagshadow sweet Emma
AOM Lambluv gambolon blue thunder

Not bad, though not as good as the usual Terrier suspect's 1.1 to 1...

And big grats to Ali's Checkers!! (though I don't know what AOM means :D )
Which was that? The smaller one? that one was cute! Well they all are but made me think of Langley.
For all us newbies can you please tell us what the BOB, BOS, AOM stand for. :plead:

congrats to all :wag:

best of breed
best of opposite sex
award of merit
I didn't know other than BOB

so I googled for us :)

more info here:
http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/dogshows/aboutdogshows.html

TERMINOLOGY

BEST OF BREED (BOB): The dog selected or the award made by a judge to that dog chosen as the best representative of the Breed. Similarly, Best of Variety (BOV) is the same award given to the best representative of a Variety exhibited that day (see VARIETY). In either case, those dogs selected BOB and those selected BOV each advance to their groups.

BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX (BOS): The dog selected as the best in competition of the opposite sex of the BOB or BOV winner. This dog does not advance.

VARIETY: A division of a breed based on coat, color, or size. For example, Poodles (size: Standard, Miniature, Toy), Cocker Spaniels (color: Black, Parti-color, ASCOB); Collies (coat: Rough, Smooth).

AWARD OF MERIT: At the discretion of the judge, an additional award made to outstanding entries that are not judged to be either BOB / BOV or BOS.
 I walked away to run an errand. The OES weren't listed as being on the live feed. I MISSED IT!!!!
I am sure it is some where on the WWW! :P Have to watch was awesome.

So I wonder if people realize you can hear the conversations. Right now a lady is talking about what she is going to wear. Earlier a guy talked about kicking dogs

I have NO plans on going to Vegas... because my sister lives there. She's ummmm how can I say this politely, a bit odd. She makes me seem normal.

My wife Jen will be out there for several days for a business conference. I'll see if she'll have time to meet up with you. She'd much rather meet a Sheepie owner than my sis... :sidestep:

For what its worth... the Bearded Collie who was in Group was from Dayton, OH. Made me feel pretty good as the groomer who used to groom our Cocker was one of the breeders.

Vance
Congratulations to Ali and Checkers! We only watched the the groups last night, up through the herding group. Fun to see the OES in the ring. Someday, I will need to be organized enough to watch the OES judging, but I always seem to be doing something else during that time. It would be great fun to actually attend some day.
Great showing by the OES! love watching the video!
Gee mine dont look like them! Well the groomer got carried away with trimming! They are bald! It is awful. Poor Gigi will not go out! I think Bogey likes it.
The HR Director where I work just sent me a link to the FoxSports website where they have a gallery of 23 photos. Within those 23 were these two:

cute photos!!! I had a blast shooting photos when I was there last year, but this one was by far my favorite:

...and here's a Westminster butt-shot for David (I too love a huge butt!)

:clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: I watched the video too, so many great butts coming and going! :excited:
This was on the NY Times site today.

The fifth photo is of a sheepie.

Isn't this Mary with Apolo?
Patiently waiting for the Airedales. :D
My boys (& girls) are up next! :clappurple:

Got busy at work, missed 'em. :(
Wow, our member Ali is all over the place in the media!

I think I just saw her on Fox News' "The Five" soft piece on Westminster, and I've seen several articles about Ali and Checkers come across Google Alerts.

Congrats Ali!!

The first link is a picture of Chris Brunsick Pesche and Nicky. Chris is well known on the west coast and the former Western Regional Director of OESCA. The Westminster FB page also had a picture of the pair yesterday, though they had Nicky labeled as "Micky".

Chris sent us an email recently that Nick is going into semi-retirement after Westminster.

Congratulations to Ali and the Winners! And congratulations to all the others for getting to that point and participating.

Are any of the other's that attended forum members?

Vance you have a sister in Las Vegas? Does she have a sheepie? :clappurple: Any plans for a road trip out here? Copper would love to meet your girls!

:sidestep:

Vance

I'd love to meet Jen! When she's headed out here PM me and I'll give you my cell.
In the end, I was pulling for the Doberman; owner/breeder/handler = HERO!!!

I was disappointed in the choice - it would have been my last pick.

And what was the dust up? I've heard PETA or a streaker. And that PETA is demonstrating outside.

The streaker would have been more interesting and a lot less predictable... :sidestep:

Not sure what it was. Probably some animal rights fruit loop.

Dobe was my pick as well. Beautiful condition, holy :cow: Peke, not so much. Nor GSD. Any of the rest i could have lived with, oh, well. It's a dog show 8)

Fun to watch.

Kristine
I wouldn't have had a chance to view anything going on so big thanks for those that posted vids and other links.

Congrats to Ali and Checkers and to all participants.

I was a bit stoked as Merlin is from the Bugaboo lineage so somewhere down the line that was one of his relatives participating.

They all looked gorgeous to me!

You have his pedigree? You should add it to the OESCA pedigree database: http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamer ... ission.php

Simplest thing is to add the scanned pedigree as an attachment. Saves you a lot of typing. You can even upload a basic picture (dog only). That goes for anyone who'd like to have their OES added.

Go to http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamer ... lfirin.php and do a search to see if your dog is in there already and, if not, why not add the dog?

(I've been working on the database for the past few weeks so it's been on my mind)

Kristine
That sounds cool and I'll do it! It may take me a few days to find the file in my now much stuffed pet file - but I know it's in there somewhere! Thanks for this info.

Actually Checker's was the First AOM!!
Just finished reading all the messages. (my laptop decided to die a slow painful death for ME). THANK YOU one and all for the Congratulations! I could not be any prouder of my boy Checker's, and "Team Olivera" for all they have and are and will do with this boy! He loves showing............. I told him it was his 'job' and he takes it very serious.
I am still hating i have had to give up handling, maybe one of the puppies here when they are ready we'll see. MRI on knee this afternoon............won't be anytime soon.

So, onthis note............I'm off to bath Checker's feet and head and deliver him back to Team "O" in Denver ! He shows here in Denver for the next 4 days, then he is off in his motorhome again. Silly boy............ but he is happier. He isn't very sure or fond of the 2 babies here!

THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!
