over possesive behaviour

I have just taken ownership of a 6 yr old female OES, not desexed. She was a rescue dog. We previously had an OES. My female aussie bulldog is not happy about this new dog but slowly coming around. The problem is the OES, Ebony, wants to guard us from the bulldog and this is causing major issues. She wont even let the bulldog greet me at the end of the day. Any ideas? I am considering rehoming her to a new home without another dog.

This is a tricky one. And I am sure far wise people than me on the forum will give you advice. In my experience bulldogs are very loving with people, but unless they have grown up with another dog they are not keen on four legged friends.

Ebony may well be picking up on this and herding/protecting is how she responds. It could also be a reaction to whatever went on in the 1st 6 years of her life.

I think you need to be loving firm and patient. Make equal fuss of both dogs and keep showing that you are the pack leader.

This will take time but OES are bright and she will learn new patterns.

Good luck.
