What My Day Off Consists of

When you think of a day off, you think freedom from "having" to do things...like get up in the morning.

If its a weekday, dh shuts the bedroom door when he gets up(or he's a dead man). He takes care of feeding and "watering" the dogs. He walks out the door to go to work and the next thing I know, two someones are knocking on my door. Or more like it, bashing the door.

I get up and make a pot of coffee and let the dogs out. Do a few little wakeup things and let the dogs in. Pour a cup of coffee and let the dogs out. Sit down with my coffee and paper and let the dogs in. Read the paper and sip my coffee and let the dogs out. Then let them in, then out, then in, etc. This goes on ALL day.

Oh your day closely resembles mine. I feel like the doorman at the Hilton, in, out, in, out, all day.

Tiggy has the habit of waiting until I get settled on the sofa and then deciding she wants to go out.
Well you do get your exercise. We have a doggy door, so you would think I never have to let the pets in or out...not so. The cat will sit and stare in the slidding glass door forever, until someone opens the door for her. If the dogs see my walking by the slidding glass door, they will stand there waiting for me to let them in. Now mind you the doggy door is less then 10inches away from the slidding door. Yes, they have me trained well.
Same here. Even the cat squaks to go outside.
Once we get settled on the couch to watch tv, Frankie hits the door with his paw. When I go to let him out, he runs the other way.

He has us trained also.

The latch on the front storm door is busted, thank you Jack, so the guys can go out at will (except MO who is a princess and wants us to open the door for her.) Coming in, the princess will bark, if we ignore she goes to another door, we ignore and she goes to a third door

Harry, by far the smartest (must be the coonhound in him) has learned if he smacks the door it will bounce enough to grab the side with his paw and let himself in........he's so proud!

Jack will slam the door until we let him in, but since he can't stand for as long as before, he does go to a nearby pillow and wait.

They've figured, if it is cold enough not to have just the storm door but instead the big door, it's too cold to go outside. Then they rely on MO, she will do the door--human--door circle until we catch on.

Jack rings the bells.
Lori has the same problem with Georgi. She gives her the runaround. Won't come in & then wants to go out & then don't go out. When I come home she is goos as gold. I send her Out & call her back in & she comes back in. So I think they give the women folk a hard time   :excited:
Your day off sounds a lot like my husband's days off, except he does make dinner. This is self preservation on his part. Typically, I am not home at night until 8 p.m.

Now, my days off include cleaning the bathrooms, vacuuming the whole house, doing laundry, dusting, general clean up (hubby thinks loading dishwasher = cleaning up in the kitchen. I'm not complaining: he will load the dishwasher. I just wish he understood the difference between cleaning the kitchen and loading the dishwasher), paying bills, running errands, doing any dog chores hubby doesn't feel like doing (again, not complaining: he does most of the walking, but that's a function of his schedule and his preference) which includes ALL of the grooming and clean up after. In between, I confess to watching way too much HGTV.

I do get to sleep in. Work days, I'm up at 6 a.m. and out the door before anyone else stirs. Unless one of the dogs is having an emergency, which is rare. Days off, I sleep until 9, usually.
Major dog door shuttle here....and even more so with a puppy in the house!! 8O :D :D

Add in a senior with kidney disease (who's body compensates by drinking copious amounts of water)....out all the time, but freezes outside, so wants back IN before the rest are done (he pees and poops super fast).

Another senior who is virtually deaf, so he totally missed the mad rush when the others go out... and decides 15 minutes after they are in that HE needs out.....

And did I mention a puppy??? :lmt:   :lmt: ...yep, in and out, in and out....

There is one benefit to this milder than normal winter....I am not so paranoid about heating the outdoors! :phew:

Hahaha that was funny. Just like here at my place only two dogs with a cat who's not allowed out trying to escape every time I open the door. Luckily the mad stampede of one or more dogs in or out dissuades Rowdy cat from making the attempt.

Very pretty cat on the video.
