I tought Langley to ring the bell...

FOR POTTY! Now that I don't have fence yard or doggie door ug! I miss that.

Well he goes up nudges it with his nose then looks at me. Well this is new so I don't want to ruin it, but thinking hmmm this is the guy that rarely potties. Well guess what; I am trained to take him out so he can go munch on the snow! Not sure... do I ignore something I taught him. What if he does need to go out for real. oh my lil brat!

Dexter felt like his mom and I were pretty clever, or pretty silly, for ringing the bell everytime he wanted to go out so he never found the need to ring it himself.

He walks up to the door, looks out then turns around to us to let us know he wants to go out. Wenever know which nature is calling; bodily function or air check or hunt for a hunk of wood to chew. We don't want to take the chance to we let him out almost every time he asks. He has us pretty well trained (but we did retire the bells).
I answer the bell no matter the reason. I noticed MO watching Jack the other morning, could the old lady actually learn something?????
The BELL went away when Moe was a year..he would ring it ..for potty, squirrels on the deck, ball on the deck, school bus coming down the road etc.... now he goes out on a schedule ..if it is an emergency we get the high pitched bark...and if we dont listen..then it is the tug on the pants!!!!
bugging me taught! not tought arg!!!
We did this with Caitlyn and had never done it before. She ended up training Zoey!!!

It's great having them both a way to tell us it's that time politely... No barking like our Cocker from years ago.

Contests with Langley!

Vance
I love it when you don't know if you did the training or got trained!
He he just like Tiggy.
She won't ring the bell to potty if I'm not in the room but she will ring it to go out for a wander if I'm there. In the end I had to start ignoring her for the sake of sanity and getting anything done.
Tiggy would ring the bell every 2 minutes. Now if she hasn't been out for quite a while I let her out but if she's just been out recently I tell her NO. Also if the weathers ok I ignore her making eyes at me from outside and won't let her back in 2 minutes after she's gone out. I watch her through the glass door and if she potties then she's allowed straight back in.
She is slowly learning not to abuse the priviledge.
