xtra fiber

outside of changing food, is there a safe, acceptable way to add additional fiber to your dogs diet?

I was thinking bran muffin! (just kidding)

Clyde's been eating strawberries lately. Believe it or not, a good source of fiber and he thinks they're candy.
What's wrong with a bran muffin? OK, leave out the sugar and use whole wheat flour and yogurt for moisture.

My Pyr bitch won't eat unless there are two special oatmeal cookies on her food......I secretly think it's the maple flavor I use instead of vanilla, than again she loves cooked oatmeal......hmmm.

Other things to try are vegetables, for example my Glacier has lost 56 lbs eating 1/2 dog food, 1/2 green beans. Pumpkin is used for dogs with runny butts, it's the bulk that tightens them. Also I've sprinkled no more than a teaspoon of miller's bran over their food. You can find it in whole food markets and health food stores. Looks...and tastes....like sawdust, but it's all fiber.

Finally, try 1/2 tsp of plain Metamucil over the food.
With all the filler in dog food, why would you need more fiber? Just curious?
