Klondike Dog Olympics with some photos

We went to the third annual Klondike Dog Olympics and it's safe to say the dogs had a blast.

First, we went on the Iditarod Treat Trail. This was the walking path that circles a now frozen over pond. Along the way, the organizers placed a dozen treat containers. This was to help keep the dogs entertained. Turns out that the uprights were entertained by watching the dogs find the treat containers.

After the Treat Trail, we participated in the Snow Ball Toss. When I say participated, I mean the dogs sat there and watched a guy throw snow balls at or past them. After a couple, I told the guy that Sheepies don't typically catch anything except attention.

Then we did something they did excel in, finding treats burried in the snow! Caitlyn found five out of five in a minute!!!

First of a dozen treat containers on the Trail. These were scattered along the trail and some had cartoons in them for the uprights to get a chuckle out of.

Caitlyn helping herself to a treat...

Zoey showing Mommy where the treats are.

Caitlyn being patient, for once...

Zoey wanted to climb on the big rock next to the treat rock.

While not exactly hidden, not all of the treat containers were easy to spot.

Our rewards for having fun!

This is a dog socializing exercise that teh Parks District holds once a month - we'll be back!!!

What a great idea. It looked like a lot of fun, minus the snow and cold,
Very cool
That looks like a lot of fun! How was the turnout?
Very nice they have winter activities too...gets people out and about enjoying the outdoors.
The turnout was really good - like 15 dogs! The weather was awesome. It was just cold enough to need gloves, but warm enough to not worry about the dogs.

The guy who runs the program is a bit off center, but I really think this is an asset for him. He really makes it fun. The Sheep-In is held in Tipp City but if it were in Troy, this guy would be an unbelievable help. I should look into getting him involved...
