Odd blood work

I took Langley into the vet today because he was hurt in Social class playing with another dogs and has a limp. Going to keep an eye on it. Seems like a sprain. While I was there I thought I would get his blood work done. Having them on raw food I like to check once and awhile. One thing that was out of the ordinary was his Alkaline phosphatase she said usually if something is going on they are elevated. Well his are the other end of the spectrum. Hard to find info because usually the issue is an elevation not decrease. She isn't overly worried thinks it is weird. She looked into it and said one thing she found is sometimes an intestinal injury could create this but I don't remember something like that happening. So she said to bring him back in a couple months we can check it again. Anyone here of a decreased alkaline phosphatase?

Ruling out live problems (which usually cause elevated, not decreased, it might be a mineral deficiency from the raw feed. Do you give supplements? Two that come to mind are zinc and.....magnesium.

yes, the injury could have been a concern. Bone disease (limping) usually means raised, not decrease levels.

I know vets hate raw feed and I'm sure it skews the "normal" blood tests but let's not panic and see if it is just low because......it's low. :crossed: :crossed: next test shows no change.

Another thought....your dog is getting healthier. The level often goes up with age, maybe yours is returning to puppyhood
She doesn't think it is the raw diet. Actually they are all for it at the office I go to, they suggested it  I know it is rare to find a Vet that are into it so these are keepers. I just love them she went over every aspect of the test and explained everything. When they have exams they explain and show you everything they are doing. Great place. But she said she highly doubts it is nutrition. Everything else was fine. But there isn't much info on low levels just high. But I will take the test again. The limp is from getting knocked pretty hard playing. Might sit out next class  especially if he is still limping.
sounds like a good vet! yes, raised levels are far more common.
Thanks for the info
