Cloud is now officially a Sheepie

We are very proud! One of the key words he knows every time is ......................................

wait for it .....................

Cheese

And boy does he love cheese

That is one of the few words that will get our two RUNNING to us... That and 'find the Mommy'.

Has Cloud discovered toilet paper or tissues yet? That a pretty big milestone too.

Hi Vance, Oh yes indeed he has. 'Steal the tissue' is a favourite game. He would be a great pickpocket as he can extract them from shirtsleeves, jeans pockets, closed cupboards. It is a joy to watch (if not clear up the mess)

Cheers Debs
Funny how cheese is a popular word for dogs.
Howie know 'cheese' in sign language. When Howie is outside and I want him in the house, I bang on the window, sign cheese, and he comes flying to the door!

Cheese = any treat

peg & howie
If Howie can't hear, how does banging on the window work? Am I missing something here? :lmt:
Sound waves can cause vibrations. I bang on the side of our house to get Jen's attention. I don't have to do it loudly, just enough to make the house shake a bit.

Vance
Howie hears just fine. I have taught him several signs (I am an interpreter). When it is cold out and the furnace is on I don't want to open the door and wait until he comes running in, so I bang on the window to get his attention first.

peg
Now there's a smart Sheepie owner with undoubtedly warm feet!

Can you take a picture of yourself signing 'cheese'? I would like to learn that one!
Here is the sign for cheese.
It is not me

I show Howie the item (cheese) and say the word and sign it. Make sure you smile when you sign it - cheese is a good thing!

Kim, it won't take long and you'll have three dogs flying up your steps for cheese!

peg
Very cool - I will try that one!

Thanks I am going to teach Cloud that one right now!!!!! :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
Cheese is heroin to these dogs I swear...
Yes and I am officially a cheese pusher. But if we mix it with his dried food then the adorable little git eats it!

Maybe we should all get together for a Sheepie Cheese Intervention?

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhh watching them eat cheese is too much fun!

:) :D :D :D
panda was a cheese addict!! that girl knew, even before i opened the fridge, she some how, magically knew when cheese was involved...

she was not a counter surfer but she did have a cute was of checking out for cheese on the counter...she would stick her nose on the counter edge and snnniiiiifffffff the length of it...

panda was spoiled...she would only drink cold water and eat kibble with fresh shredded cheese...no preshredded bag stuff....ahh i miss her.. :wag:

So tell me, Darcy, when she sniffed at the edge of the counter when you had cheese out, did you give in? Tough face to resist, I imagine!
So Darcy, did you grate cheese for Panda every meal? How lucky she was!

peg
of COURSE i gave in...she sat and looked at me with those big blue eyes, so when i was done grating, i would give her the piece left over...she took it ever so gently...then she would race from the fridge to me to her bowl...i would mix it in with her kibble...

IF it wasnt mixed JUST so, she wouldnt eat it...usually brian would be the one to ''not do it right''...id have to mix it better and make a big deal about it..''mmmmm, now its right panda..''

she would gobble it right up....i would tell her she is like her daddy....i go to all that hard work to make a yummy dinner and they would both eat it so fast that it was impossible to believe that either of them enjoyed it... :?

and yes, i grated for every meal....
Wow, Panda was so lucky, but I think Brian is too!

That is a really nice memory of Panda and cheese, :hearts:

peg
I wish I had Video taped her doing the countertop edge sniff. She really did go down the length of the counters...yet if you left food on the coffee table, she never in 8 years ever touched or tried to steal food.
Bloo loves cheese too! But he cannot eat it now as he is allergic, we found it makes him sick ! :( Poor boy keeps barking for it when i make the sandwiches! :hearts:
We also put shredded cheese in our Sheepies food bowls and we also mix it up. Our two actually turn their noses up at the cheap store brands. It's Kraft or Sargento or two unhappy pups.

Vance
One nice thing about living in Wisconsin, is the fresh cheese curds. Pooh loved them and got excited when we pulled off the highway towards the cheese factory. Angus loves them, too. It's amazing to watch them chew these soooo fast!
Count Charm in as a cheese head. Just now, I read the original post aloud to Rocky, and she did the expectant twist of her head with THAT look, and marched to attention by the fridge. Charm is still waiting as I type
Well after returning from a weekend away my grocery budget is out of the window! My friends thought that Cloud might like French Brie and guess what he loves it!

I love all the cheese stories x

:hearts:
Butchy is much more partial to the good cheeses than he is to any of the run of the mill stuff. We like a butterkase brick cheese from Monroe, he loves that.
How much cheese is too much in a given day? I want to be careful to not give too much of a good thing.
I know Cloud's answer to that question!
I can get stuff out of the fridge and no dogs, but if you get the cheese box out, or a carrot, they come running. It doesnt matter how quiet you do it! They have now managed to understand that opening the cream cracker tin, means the cheese is coming out of the fridge as well! :wag:

CORN TORTILLAS

She can not hear but if you grab the bag of tortillas out the refrigerator she is there in 2 seconds flat !!!
all this talk of cheese made me hungry, had to go get some pepper jack cheese for mom and cheddar for the girls. all are happy now.
