BBC Sherlock

What? No thread about the new (2nd) series yet? Are there any other obsessed fans of this show on the board?

The 2 that have aired so far have been fantastic, in my opinion :hearts: Next Sunday cant come soon enough 8)

I love the series and wished it was on for longer. The mind of Sherlock is outstanding...... I wish I had half of it! <G>
I haven't heard of this, I will have to go and find it!
I think most American's, me included, watch it on PBS as part of Masterpiece Mystery. It won't be on until early summer for us.

Sidenote - Martin Freeman was on Graham Norton last weekend...we love that show.

We dont get TV reception at ALL, so we hook up the computer to the TV and watch downloads of shows we are too impatient to wait for DVD on 8) BBC Sherlock is one of the few (along with Dr Who) that we do this for
We are definitely going to check it out thanks!!

We love Doctor Who too :excited: :excited: We have cable and wait until it is on BBCA. I think we have been getting increasingly closer to the original BBC airdates...it used to be a delay of up to a year or more.
So has the second Sherlock series aired on PBS over regular tv yet? I don't watch tv via the computer.

Side note: The second Sherlock Holmes movie is awesome. I liked the first and the second is even better.
What is it about British tv that is so appealing?

Not yet. I think it will be on in May or June.

For me? Several things...

I like the sense of humor. Its hard to define how its "different from American TV though... :?

The writers seem to assume that their audience is fairly intelligent and reasonably well educated.

The characters...even the female characters, do NOT always look (and act) like fashion models  This is a particular gripe of mine with American TV :x .
Plus, no matter how rough or uneducated the accent, Americans think all Brits went to Oxford or Cambridge!

To me, a lot of the appeal is that they are a little bit different than the offerings here. It is also interesting to see how people live in a different place. Even Law and Order is different in London.

I regularly read TV Guide online and one of the columnists seems to be asked a similar question a few times a year. That question is "Why is British tv better/or of a higher quality?" and his answer is always the same. It isn't. We mostly only see the best/most popular shows...not the glut of "bad" tv that they have just like we do

Oh didnt you know all Brits have to attend Cambridge or Oxford - after going to Elton :D :D

Just kidding!! Oh although I would have loved to have attended either - just to say hey I made it and loving it.

I personally cannot stand the programme (and cant quite remember the name) the "Only Way is Essex" - the accents and the use of language really grates on my teeth :wag:
I have watched enough Coronation Street to now know that not all folks in the UK went to Cambridge! I find it fascinating how such a geographically small country can have so many different accents!

:D It is fascinating and a wonder. Even the Queen has altered her speech as the language/acents have developed.

Seriously I would have love to have gone to Cambridge - but alas I didnt the money nor the brains....
Today's the day....the last episode of this series...Reichenbach(sp?)! :twitch:

I'm probably going to need some group hugs when this is done!
