Never take your dog to doggy day care

Not been too well & surfing the net & found this. Not too sure where this was but person who looks after the day care should be banned

On a lighter note this is funny

:wag: I darent watch it! I am still worrying about the UK sheepie that wants rehoming, and the poor cat that was run over near me at Christmas. The remains just kept getting smaller and smaller....see I am worrying again.... :twitch:
Hi,

I couldn't watch but the first min or two as it trudged up horrible memories. You see, Jasper was a member here and we went through the horrible ordeal with her. If I remember correctly Jasper was the new kid at the Daycare and pack mentality set in and the group turned on him. There was only one person in the room whom was a inexperienced young man.
Jaspers story can be found on here through a search If one clicked the search button located at the top of the page.
I still get the chills thinking about what that boy went through.

Ah, I do remember poor Jasper! He almost died if I remember right...a long and painful recivery for him and his Momma...

we don't do dog parks or day care...I just don't trust people with my dogs...I think some day cares are okay but just not any I am comfortable with...
Dh thinks I'm mean because when we board the dogs I won't let them put them in with the dog day care. I remember Jasper.
Daycare is only as good as the facility and the staff it employs. :?

Some are great, some are OK, and some are accidents waiting for a place to happen.

The place where I teach has daycare, and I take several of my dogs there periodically for a day of exercise and play.
They love it, and they are strictly supervised and monitored. Luckily The Paw has almost limitless space and options for moving dogs around and splitting them up.

I was just watching the daycare dogs there on the webcam yesterday from work - and thinking a couple of mine should go later this week when I have a day off. :D

If you want to see - it's www.thepawmankato.com
and the webcam links are at the top of the pages. Check out the playgrounds (1-4), the training center, or maybe can even catch some in the pool.
Dawn, I am very jealous of you being able to use The Paw. Ottawa today is -31 with the wind chill. Too cold to do anything other than bathroom walks, and short ones at that. I would love to have an alternative on such cold stretches.

I had to check that in F - still darn cold!

We've just got done with those terrible winds here, you are welcome to them! 8O
Imagine being out in the country on a hill....instead of in a cozy city! We had NOTHING blocking the winds except our little windbreak, doing it's best!

Good news - less wind and warmer coming :phew:

Yes, it a great alternative. We (employees at The Paw) all got super warm big coats to wear outside with the dogs - even Linda and I as trainers got them. Huge and ugly (think Carhartts), but so very warm. :D

If I didn't work 12 hours, I would bring mine in more often on work days, but 7am to 7pm work is too early and too late . And I get lazy on my days off, or already have a vehicle packed with dogs!!

They have a puppy camp that my new pup is going to get to do - I'm excited! :aww:

Show us a picture of the coat! We all laugh at the dog park at the 'newbies' who arrive in their fashionable coats. We experienced ones know that it is only a matter of time before they show up looking raggedy but warm like the rest of us.

I'm at work now (and didn't wear it)...let me try to remember tomorrow on my day off and get a photo...

or can you log onto the Paw site and see the staff outdoors? - they have them on.
OK,not right now - it's nap time for the dogs over the noon hour.... :D
You guys cracked me up regarding the coats as I too have a dog walking coat. It's far too big for me and I resemble the Micheline Man in it. Pfff for fashion as I'd rather be warm!
OK...please excuse the bed head!

Here's my Paw coat.
It is so warm, but with the fitted waist, it always creeps up on my short-waisted body (and hips) and looks more like a balloon...NOT flattering!

If it stayed in place like the picture, it wouldn't be so bad!

It's getting warm today, so I just decided for a quick pic in the house - and I needed to do the timer as Todd's not home so I needed to set the camera on the other counter!
I was expecting some big huge parka thing!
Looks very nice and WARM!
That's an awful story but I do agree that it's more of where you take them and making sure that the supervision is good. We take kenny twice a week and can watch on the webcam. He loves it and can't wait to go so we're going to continue to do so. It is a bit scary but better than crating him while we're at work. :(
