Jack spent Christmas outside

We are talking about a dog who loves couches and snuggling at night. But apparently two days of begging Christmas goodies got to my cast iron stomach dog. I thought I knew the problem as earlier in the evening he was producing his personal aromas. Finally at 9:30 he wanted out! From then on I checked he every 30 minutes, then every hour (no I didn't sleep well) and finally around 4:30 he decided to come indoors. No doubt his problem......this morning there are several long and wide......and very frozen rear end explosions on the driveway.

Did he turn down breakfast? Are you kidding?? 8O He says he's all better and I say "no more Christmas goodies for you!"

We ordered a precooked prime rib roast and when I opened it, it smelled "strange." We ate a meal off it but when I offered it to DH again the next day he wrinkled his nose. We agreed it wasn't good. Since Jack got the trimmings from our portion.......maybe it was the meat.

Of course Jack is back under foot.........since he is a velcro dog

Glad to hear Jack is better and you guys didn't get sick from the meat!

Poor Jack!!! :( No sweet sheepie should be sick on Christmas. I'm glad he is feeling better today :D
Poor Jack. I'm happy to hear he is feeling better today. I'm very happy that neither you nor hubby had the same reaction as Jack.
New white rug isn't a virgin any longer. Rug, vinyl, throw rugs and wall all in a mad dash to the front door. Guess who will be spending more time outside? No food for 24 hours at least!
Poor Jack! And poor you! Hope he gets feeling better soon!
Poor Jack...Glad he is feeling better...How did you sleep at all with him outside all night? I would never have been able to catch a single wink. You must be exhausted to.... Are you sure it was something he ate? Hope he ( and you ) are back to your regular old selves!
All I can imagine, it was the food. He isn't around other dogs. He's in right now, but DH and I are nervous. He did well outside, maybe he can do it again??

I was cooking turkey while cleaning up from his indoor explosion. I'm afraid I'm off turkey for awhile, the two smells did not blend well. Will have to have another go at the carpet.......any suggestions? Used the enzyme cleaner for dogs, then Bissell carpet shampoo, then OxyClean with Dawn Power scrubber.

Uh Oh, here he is, far from the door.
Poor Jack!! :ghug:
Poor Jack! Hope he is feeling better.

For your carpet--for stain and smell you can try Tonic water and baking soda. My father was involved with carpet cleaning years ago and this is what he recommended. There may be more updated ways these days but I still use this.
Soak well--pat with towels--let dry--repeat as needed.
Poor Jack, hope your feeling better soon Jack :ghug:
Poor Jack~~~ So glad he is feeling better~~now he will be ready for the New Year's feast?????
Wow! :twitch: Poor Jack! Hope his tummy is okay now!
Me too. I gave him a portion of a dog biscuit this a.m. just so he has the sensation he was fed. He's a velcro dog, so I'm never out of his sight and me on him. Since Jack didn't eat, the others won't eat either.....finally convinced Harry it was OK to eat alone. MO won't eat until dinner time now. Silly guys.

I will probably put him back on rice later today, no meat until tomorrow late and then slowly bring back the kibble. For sure his holiday food will be cut back! Don't want to enduce pancreatitis.

When I ate a tangerine this a.m. he didn't even lift his head. Normally those are great treats for him. I guess his cast iron stomach has a few rust spots now.
Wish I could say we are making progress with Jack's tummy. Since the explosion he hasn't been able to keep food down. We've been on rice.....which sorta worked. When potatoes were offered as an alternative, he was thrilled as rice is hard to eat. Unfortunately the potatoes didn't stay down. It's hard convincing DH the dog's stomach needs to rest 24 hours after each vomit. Anyway, I just made a bowl of rice and will return him to broth and rice tomorrow a.m. assuming this afternoon's meal stays down.

In some ways he acts as if he has an obstruction..........obviously he's being watched closely.

Part of the watch today included scissors time. Alas, his legs were very matted  bad mommy for not noticing he was back to eating fur again (remember tummy...hair ball?) so had to give him short legs to go with very long body hair. That was rediculous. So trimmed down body as well, then went after his face. If he wasn't so pathetic looking I'd take a pix. His poor atrophied rear end makes it all the more silly. If it wasn't dead winter he'd have been zipped down with a #5 blade. That still may happen.

I hope he gets better soon and we can deal with the strange appearance. To top it off, he hurts. We ran out of pain meds and the vet's office has been closed this past week for interior painting. With his tummy, it probably wouldn't have been a good idea to give the meds. I'm thinking a Pepic tonight might keep food inside for a change.
I'm sorry to hear that Jack is still not feeling well. I hope he feels better soon. Gentle hugs to that sheepie boy.
I didn't want Jack eating this a.m. but was too late to stop the rice from DH. Poor dog, inhaled the rice and then lifted the bowl and took it back to DH, "more porridge please." :crossed: :crossed: he'll keep it down and we can progress onward.
Poor Jack, how's he doing now? I hope he's doing better!
