Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas to everyone from us all in upside down Land. May the holiday season be fun, hope all the sheepies this year have been good and may Santa Paws fill their stockings with heaps of stuff & yummy things too. :santa: :wag:

Christmas day in upside down land is going to be a hot and humid one so out goes the traditional christmas fare of something hot. We are cooking outside on the webber marinated greek lamb and beef in red wine and "Garlic", lots of salads and of course here Pavlova with berries (blueberries, raspberries and strawberries) topping off the sweet with plenty of whipped cream and ice cream. Early on saturday morning off to the "Fish Mongers" to get the "Prawns" (Shrimp) and Scallops to serve as a starter, I love this time of year and after the day my belly matches "Santa" 8)

After the main course at "Lunchtime" christmas day, we gather around the tree (or should I say Flop   ) open the presents and then onto sweets after. :excited:

Then I swear as the usual resolution for the up and coming "New Year" Crikeys diet time and never going to eat that much again over the Holiday Season :P

So what's your christmas tradition...
Do you open pressies on christmas eve or day.....
Whats your christmas fare......
In other words what is a typical christmas at your place...... :santa2:

One thing at least on christmas day now the boys are adults, no getting woken up at some ungodly hour in the morning to hear "MAAAAAAA Santas been and have to fall out of bed early, we can sleep in a bit before the family joins us to celebrate the day :yay:

We use to leave out for Santa on Christmas eve when the boys were little, Beer and Bikkies, I think hubby is not thrilled that's not left anymore  , maybe when Grandkids come along we need to re-ignite that tradition :sidestep: :rimshot:

Have a great Holiday season all and look forward to hearing how you celebrate the festive season and whats a traditional christmas at your place. OH AND WE GET SANTA FIRST !!! :clappurple:

Yes, but the biggest and heaviest presents are at the bottom of Santa's bag ;P

Our tradition is to celebrate X-mas Eve, not X-mas day. It's the end of lent so all dishes are vegetarian. The table should not be cleaned up until next morning. Presents are opened right after dinner.

Happy Holidays to all!
Love your tradition! It would seem strange to have hot and humid--but I guess it is what you are used too!

On Christmas Eve--we go to church for a candlelight ceremony. We then come home for Christmas Eve dinner--this year I am doing prime rib with my family's favorite potatoes--home cooked green beans--salad and a yummy dessert ( Ivey cake cupcakes and ice cream). The Ivey Cakes are a special treat here in Brentwood. I ordered Red Velvet--Pumpkin Spice--Apple Strudel with pecans--and Chocolate with Eggnog icing! :D

Our tradition on Christmas Eve is to exchange stockings--we draw names at Thanksgiving and then have from then until Christmas Eve to shop for the person! I LOVE LOVE this--it is probably my favorite! This year I have my daughter and have had a ball putting it together. We have a $ limit but I went a little over this year! :D After this we usually play some games and then go to bed.

We get up on Christmas morning and open gifts--then have a yummy brunch after. We usually are very lazy Christmas afternoon--eating treats and leftovers! On Christmas night we go to the movies. This year we are going to see War Horse. After the movie we generally drive around and look at all the Christmas lights--we come home and pick up the sheepies so that they can join in the fun!

We stay up late and play games and have a little Christmas Cheer! Then it is over! :(

I LOVE Christmas!
Lisa, love your beautiful cards with your beautiful sheepies! Loved hearing about your traditions! I couldn't imagine how it would be to have Christmas in the summer time. Maybe a winter Christmas would be strange for you guys.

We always go to a relatives for delicious Christmas brunch and exchange presents. We were invited to a Christmas eve party but relish the chance to stay home and relax. Hubby, Copper and I will open presents probably Christmas Eve but each year we switch it up. I always call my Mom and have her open some of her presents with me on the phone and we laugh and laugh. We skype with our family out of state usually late Christmas day.

I love this time of year! Although this year I'm afraid it whooshed by before I knew it. Really missing Hannah so that will be a difficult aspect. I'm doing my best to appreciate what I do have!
That sounds just heavenly. Next year let's plan to leave
my mother-in-law and sick dogs behind and I'll come spend
Christmas with you! Sounds like a plan to me. (if only... )

Have a very Merry Christmas!

Sounds like a wonderful Christmas Lisa. We too share in a "Summer" like climate for Christmas. My first, almost 50 yrs however were spent in a Winter Wonder land, Michigan...The license plate on the cars used to read :water winter wonderland" which I always thought was appropriate. Now we're in the Tropics, Florida and our high was 84F yesterday and supposed to stay around there for a day or two...so shorts and flip flops.:)

We get up Christmas morning and Chuck makes warm chocolate pudding and rolls, which you dip into the pudding. His mother was German and that is a tradition we carry over from his childhood. We then exchange presents. If we eat early, like around 1ish, we go to the movies in the afternoon. I was thinking about War Horse. Once it gets dark, either on Christmas Eve or Day we go out and look at lights with the girls.

Have a Merry Christmas!
Love those cards! How did you make them?

Christmas traditions have faded here since my Mom passed away a few years ago and the family is small...We now take my dad out to eat for Christmas Eve, and then drive around and look at the lights on the houses. Come home and watch A Christmas Carol on TV. The original one that is one late at night...Along with a nice Baily's..... :tea:

Christmas Day we just watch the Yule Log and open gifts, and eat again! Very quiet...but nice...what's better than a nice quiet day, home in pj's with two sheepies by your side... :wag: :wag:

Merry Christmas Everyone! :tree: :santa2: :tree: :santa2: :tree: :santa2: :tree: :santa2: :tree: :santa2:
Merry Christmas Lisa and the gang down under!!

:santa: :santa: :santa:

Being a nurse, I spend half my holidays with other people besides family.
This year is a working holiday - I work 12 hours today (24th) and tomorrow, on Christmas day.

Today I will go to the Christmas eve church service with my client and his wife. Then tonight I will pop in late to Todd's extended family Christmas gathering. They start at 5, but I'll get there about 7:30pm or so. So Todd's in charge of getting our potluck contributions ready and over there...but no big deal for him!
And today will be a prep day at their (my client's) house for Christmas gathering.

Tomorrow at work my client's wife is having her side of the family over, so we will have a busy day - she is one of a family with 14 kids!! Then we will get to celebrate Christmas with my immediate family after I get off work at 7pm. We are meeting in town for Chinese cuisine....then heading to Lisa/Alex and Travis's house to open presents. We picked their house as it will be late and they can put Norah to bed in her own bed when she's tired.
Luckily my immediate family all lives nearby, so it's pretty easy to make it work. And with both girls married and families, doing this at odd hours actually helps make their schedules work better!

Your dogs and cards are beautiful...We have christmas eve dinner with family. Christmas day is the only day I do not cook (maybe breakfast) we have ham and turkey the 24th then ham for breakfast with eggs or pancakes and sandwitches the day Usually I have cookies and hungarian nut bread baked but this year I have had a virus for 7 days still holding strong ACK  we usually open one gift on christmas eve (some times I worked the eve of christmas day but I enjoyed taking care of the patients and family members were always so kind) then we do the rest christmas morning. Now that my daughter is married we rotate christmas eve with her inlaws but this is my year :) they will stop for breakfast heading to visit his parents. My neighbors called to stop by with gifts I had my PJs on and puppy gruel all over me I ask if they could give me an hour to get cleaned up I really would like to get back in bed. Every one have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :santa:
The only immediate family for me is my sister (she lives about 70 miles from me). I have 2 brothers (they live close to each other, but 50 miles from me) but they don't socialize with my sister and me; they are going to Chinatown for dinner on Christmas  . Christmas Eve is spent at the barn, then whoever is around goes out to an early dinner. Home for pjs and A Christmas Story. Christmas Day going to clean Bob's stall, then on to my sister's. My nephew and his wife will be here from Kansas. Prime rib dinner, then home. This is the first Christmas after Mom died so new traditions must be made.

A gang of us is already planning Christmas 2012! Crazy!
:tree: :santa2: :santa: Merry Christmas from Cindy & Teddy :santa: :santa2: :tree:

I'm at work both Christmas eve and Christmas day from 6am to 6pm this year. Such is the life of a oil refinery worker. I've been working here for almost 26 years and rarely have those days off so I don't really have any traditions to go with other than working.

We are having some nice warm winter weather this weekend, around 40 degrees, so when I get home tonight, I'll take Teddy for a nice 2 mile walk and enjoy the neighborhood Christmas lights!
