We met a local OES family!!!
 We finally met the local couple that own a beautiful male OES. I knew they went to our local shopping complex every Saturday (they are local celebs at the Starbucks because of their wonderful pet  ), so I did a brave thing and drove there specifically to meet them. We have exchanged emails and they have given me tons of websites to get cool things that I can't find around here (pin brushes without the balls, for example  ). They also told me the name of their vet., and it turns out it is the vet several people had suggested...I just wanted to make sure it was a vet familiar with the breed, so I was stubborn and waited to meet them before making my final decision. We sat and had the best chat and hope to get the dogs together to play (once Pru is old enough to take out to places like that ). It was so fun, and humourous, to sit and talk "dog" to people outside of this site...something I never imagined 2 years ago  . They have one of Edy's pup's from a few years back (he is 2 years old now). He is wonderful!!!  It is their 3rd sheepie and they had so much knowledge and love to share about the breed. They are so excited to meet Pru! (Kim - I think I may have started a hubbie/wife puppy conversation...as in she now wants one... ...and I thought of you 2).I also found out one of my colleague's parents own a sheepie (their 3rd or 4th one...she said she has had sheepies in her life since childhood). They emailed & wanted a pic of Pru and offered their support also. They live 2 hours away...but... .....I think I feel a north Florida OES gathering in the works.  Wonder if these people will think I am absolutely bonkers for trying to get one together this spring or summer?  I will need help from you guys to on putting something like that together when the time comes . I love seeing all the pics of the get togethers and I sooo wish I lived closer to anyone (I'm >6 hours away from even the other Florida peeps here  ), so I am very hopeful that I have found a small pocket of OES fanatics like me close by...yayy!! |

| Great find - both with the friendship and the new knowledge base!!! I'm betting they'll love the idea of a get-together, especially if you show them photos of some of the events posted here. We Sheepie owners are an odd bunch, but one thing I've seen is that we all kinda think alike and we all love to see big numbers of our breed together, romping, running and playing. Keep us posted and see if you can get them to check out the site! Vance |

| I did mention the forum about a billion times...lol. I was a bit nervous (wasn't sure if they thought I was completely crazy at that point or not ), so I didn't explain what I meant when I kept saying the "OES forum". You mean every OES addict is not on this forum already?? ..jk. I look forward to getting to know them in a more relaxed setting, now that the initial meet/greet occurred, and that would be great if they could get on here also!! |
