Nibbling?

Angus is almost 5 months old now and he has started nibbling on my arms. He uses just his front teeth, does not break skin or press hard, but it looks like he's eating an ear of corn. Any reasons? Thanks.

Lol. I don't have a reason but I can tell you that you aren't alone. Clyde will turn 8 months this week and he still sometimes does it. Oddly, it seems to be when he's cuddling and very content or even gentle playing. We call it the rat bite ;)
Spike is 19 weeks and I know why he's all about some nibbling - his teeth are falling out/coming in - in droves!! Have you considered that possibility? Angus is at the right age to be going through the same thing. Good luck!
Our sheepie does the nibbling behavior as well--
we spoke to our trainer, he observed the behavior
and said it was "defleaing". Its a sign of respect to the
alpha dog to have the subordinates deflea !!! :!:
Max is 19 weeks and also does the nibbling thing, it's very gentle and he just uses his front teeth, it usually follows his "kissing." Since it never hurts I let him nibble
DEFLEAING!!!!! NOT!!! It's kisses!!!!!!!!!!! Tasker has been doing it since he was a very little pup. You know you have been accepted in my house when Tasker kisses you. My daughter used it as the ultimate litmus test of a boyfriend. If she brought a boy around a couple times and Tasker didn't think he was worthy of kisses then he was a goner. Doug (my sweetie) and I have been together for 4 years, but Tasker and I have been together longer :D , it wasn't til Tasker decided he was kiss worthy that I knew he was a keeper. Defleaing, HURUMPHHHH
Jasper is 5 months old, and he does it too. I've always thought it was a way of showing you love. Allie, our cat does it also, and she gives makes "biscuits" on us with her paws. That's kinda like scratching, but she doesn't have claws out - hard to describe. I'm sure those with cats know exactly what I'm talking about though. :)
That nibbling thing is a grooming/defleaing thing, and I have also heard it is a sign of affection and respect, however, sometimes with my girls, I also think it is because they themselves have an itch....lol.... if they do that to me they usually nudge their heads over, wanting me to scratch in return. LOL
lol My shepard use to do that to my son when he was younger, cats, kitten, and chinchilla too if she could get ahold of it lol. she would wait til he was laying on the floor watching cartoons, lay down and start grooming his head lol and if he moved before she was done she would lay her leg over his forehead til she was lol
PANDA IS 18 MONTHS AND STILL DOES THIS...I CALL IT LOVE BITES....SHE DOENST DO IT VERY HARD, HOWEVER I HAVE GOTTEN SOME BRUISES ON MY ARMS FROM IT WHEN SHE HAS GOTTEN CARRIED AWAY...I THINK IT IS A WAY OF HER GETTING MY ATTENTION AND SAYING "HEY YOURE NOT PAYING ENOUGH ATTENTION TO ME..." IT DOESNT BOTHER ME ..I THINK ITS CUTE, BUT MY HUSBAND TRIES TO STOP IT BY SAYING "NO BITE"...IT REALLY DOENST WORK.. :D
KISSES I TELL YOU!!! Sheepie kisses :D
:( I don't know what to do anymore. My rescue baby is so sweet, but he still jumps up and bites. He's gotten my son a couple of times, where I have stepped in between them. We've tried growling, ignoring and now we are on the spray bottle. He loves water, but hates the spray bottle. I had never seen my baby snarl and growl before, but he did when he was cornered. He is getting better, but I am so worried. I know he wasn't treated well before being rescued, but I love him so much. Any idea's. He barks at us a lot, but I have discovered that he barks at us, when we don't do what he wants. Also, any ideas on teaching drop the ball? I don't allow tugging, but that is all he wants to do.

Thank you so much.
My obedience instructor told us to never let the dog win a game of tug of war (another debated issue but not the subject here), she showed us how to get them to release the rope (or what ever) when the game was over. If you reach up under the jaw to where it is hinged and GENTLY press on either side with your thumb and index finger the jaw will naturally release. That migh work for getting him to drop the ball, then praise him and do it over. I taught Tasker the "drop it' command that way and it worked very well. i do not have any suggestions for the other problem other than reading The Dog Listener: Learn How to Communicate with Your Dog for Willing Cooperation, by Jan Fennell
I dont have a OES but I have a 17month old male pit bull and he nibbles on my 12 week old kittens.
Mine do it to the cat
OMG, this is SO funny.
Zeke (who is 3 now) nibbles all the time. So much so that one of his nick-names is Nibbles.
Most times it doesn't hurt but once in a while he catches you just right and it really pinches.
He generally does this if we're playing and I stop but he wants to keep playing.

And here I thought it was just him.
Jenny will be 2 in June and does the "nibble, nibble". Sure hope it means affection and respect LOL
Yep, I get lots of nibbles ( flee bites ) here, followed by a good licking of the same area. He is really very gentle. He has also always knawled on my right index finger knuckle beginning on the ride home from the breeder. It really is soothing and doesn't cause any discomfort. He will do it most when we are snuggling.

We call it "draw-punching" - and depending how "into" and "relaxed" he is, the claws can sometimes be out!
