Max and Mikey the Monkey. A love story

It just so happened that someone was shooting across the field when Max and I were walking up the lane. He is scared to death of gun fire. I kept petting him, and telling him it would be ok, and we did make it to the end of our 850 foot lane and back. He was almost velcroed to me by the time we got back to the house. As we came up the back sidewalk, he took a detour, and went right to Mikey-- his monkey that he buries in a safe place. Mikey only comes out of hiding when Max needs a friend. He grabbed him, shook the mulch off, and laid him gently on his bed in the garage. Then, Max laid down with Mikey between his paws and cuddled. Does it get any sweeter than that??? I offered for him to come inside, but he wouldn't. He needed a moment with his friend. I can't figure out if Max is saving Mikey from danger, or Mikey is saving Max. Either way-- I love my baby!

Poor Max! Good thing he has his Mikey :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
AWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a sweetie.
Frankie does the same thing with Zeebie his stuffed Zebra. He takes it outside moves some dirt around under a tree and sits it in there. This morning he buried Zeebie in some snow on the deck, and he just uncovered it and brought it in to suck on. :)

They are such sweeties.

Awww :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

And then there are my stuffie terminators who have never known the love of a nice stuffed monkey or anything else ...

That is such a sweet story. :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

I was thinking about my girls and their stuffies and really only Asia seems to have a stuffy she uses as comfort or when she's excited she picks it up and keeps it in her mouth. Her stuffy is a baby blue color sheep. I had bought each of the girls these sheep, I think back at Easter Time. When I select girts or toys for them I try to keep them color coded: purples for Violet, blues for China, red/pinks for Asia. Well, I have no idea what happened to the other sheep, but Asia has taken ownership of China's blue sheep since day one. China and Violet will play with anything, so they don't seem to care,, but when I say it's bed time, Asia always goes and grabs her blue sheep and climbs up on my bed. It really is sweet. The sheep has really held up well between Asia's love and my washing it...good investment so far. :)

Maxie I hope the gunshots stop soon.
too sweet!

I wish bath and body still sold their white and black sheeps. :-(

Cambridge doesn't have a special love yet, hoping he'll find one. At least he doesn't tear through a toy in 5 min. though like the mastiff did. And I do tend to get the UNstuffed toys these days...

glad Max has his Mikey the Monkey. :-) :hearts:
That is so adorable. Carley has her duck. When we got her the breeder sent a big stuffed duck home with us. Carley carries it and slings it at things. She uses it as a pillow. She sleeps with it during the day some but doesn't allow it in our bedroom at night. We have a hard time getting it from her to wash it. That doesn't happen as often as it should.
That reminds me of the story about the elephant and dog being best friends and how the elephant grieved when the dog got killed. Our furbabies get very attached to people, animals and stuffies.
Brick will tear a stuffie apart within 1-2 minutes.
I had to give him this special toy (a boomerang) that is supposed to be indestructible. He's had it for almot a year now and he hasn't got it open. He tries, though.

Zeke was never interested in stuffed anything. He almost seems scared of them. If he sees one on the floor, he'll approach it very cautiously and take the LONG way around it. Don't understand that. Plus he wants nothing to do with balls or frisbees or the game of fetch.
I got a good laugh last night......

So, Chewie has had this stuffie donkey he loves for a couple years. He plays with it (no sucking though) really gently, makes it squeak, tosses it and catches it and it's like a little buddy for him... :aww:

Sadly, last week one of the seams let go, and the squeaker fell out and half of the stuffing... :( :(
When he was outside, I threw it away. :?

Last night was our therapy dog Christmas party, and we exchange gifts. The gift I picked had a nice plush stuffie lamb with a squeaker! I showed it to him when I got home, and he was SO happy. He squeeked, laid down with it like his donkey, tossed it - seems it passed. :hearts: :cheer: :hearts:

But then I got the real laugh...he had the sheep standing on the porch-to-living room entry rug, smack dab in the center of the rug, and it was standing up on it's 4 little legs.....
And Chewie was sitting out on the porch, staring at his new toy....keeping a watch to make sure it was OK! :aww:
Now that is too cute Dawn.
:aww: :aww: :aww: :aww:
All those stories are too cute! So far Teddy doesn't have one favorite stuffy, but he has several he plays with. He gives most of them equal time.

Cindy
 What a sweet story Dawn. I love Chewie.
