I don't like turkey much.

Our Thanksgiving was last month, but with Americans having Thanksgiving tomorrow, I thought I'd just throw this out there. I've never been a big fan of turkey, sure the gravy and potatoes and stuffing are all good, but I'd rather have all that with a roast, or ham, or even just plain ol' chicken! I've always found Turkey boring in comparison. Honestly, I'd be happier with a burger (and save the gravy for some Poutine! )

I usually celebrate Am. T-day with co-breeder and she often does cornish hens.

Yuuummmmm.

There is no rule that says it HAS to be turkey :-)

If Jen cooks it and it's in front of me, I'm usually pretty happy.

Seriously, I love turkey. For the last six years, the turkey has been my gig. This all started when I learned how to smoke turkey. We get ours from a local turkey farm whose turkeys are beyond awesome. When I smoke them, I use a mix of apple, cherry and hickory woods. Add to that a special trick that I add to the pan of water inside the smoker, I usually get a killer bird after 6-8 hours of a slow smoke.

Don't get me wrong, i love a good ham and even a good smoked salmon. My son has nailed the fish. He uses a rum based rub that is out of this world.

Great, now I'm hungry...

I'm not a turkey fan either. I much prefer the sides dishes that go with the turkey, specifically the dressing and gravy. So this year I'm making chicken Parmesan. I did buy a bag of stuffing to make at some other time.

And David, my favorite meal is a burger and fries. I could eat beef every day.
I hate turkey ...but I also dislike mashed potatoes and all those southern side dishes that don't end with "casserole."

I just eat dessert and casseroles. ...though at my mom's, we usually have Korean. We're cooking it together this year and I can't weight!! I've been working out all week just to gain it all back friday (when we go to her place).

Great minds think alike, you just beat me to it.
Carl doesn't care for turkey either and if it was just us we wouldn't have it but the kids like it and it's only once a year. We really love all the sides and as the grand finale, dinner rolls to sop all that gravy up. To me that's better than the pie.
I like turkey but can't abide by ham. When a friend was fishing for what she should serve for a Pre Holiday brunch I mentioned I don't do ham. She asked why. I said, "I'm Kosher, I only eat bacon and sausage." She's from Panama, so it took an extra beat before she realized I was kidding. But I still don't do ham. Big mouth me, now I'm incharge of the brunch main dish.
