Caitlyn in the Ring of Fire!!!

Caitlyn is a puppy. I have to keep telling myself this. She's a puppy and puppies do what they want and what they think is fun regardless of timing and place. Friday night is proof off this. She was the quintessential wild woman and I now know what I need to work on and FAST!!!

Below are some photos I just got from Nita that she took at the puppy match where Caitlyn and Schubert were competing and decided to post them complete with her very witty and appropriate captions.

Hiding behind daddy after pooping on the floor...

Nice stack!

She did great running around in the Puppy Dog class!

Still doing great!

Best of Breed Ring. Things going south...

Flying OES puppy

I can walk upright like you, daddy!

Oh and this last photo is where you can see Caitlyn actually latching onto my upper forearm. She got me good. This jumping and snapping is the first thing we need to conquer. She only does it in the ring and when we're moving at a fast pace. She thinks its playtime and oh-so-much fun. Well, it's not when she draws blood...

Thanks Nita!

I really need to thank Marilyn Vogt and Chris Gaburri for way more help and advice then I could have ever imagine. I couldn't have lined up a better mentor and mentor's awesome friend. These two women have SOOOOO much patience to take me under their collective wing. If felt so good to know I had them to fall back to for corrections and delivered in a way I understood; especially after Friday night. They're the best, no matter how humble they behave. Thank you ladies. Thank you!

On the plus side, she obviously enjoys being there and feels comfortable enough to goof off! The rest will come with practice. Plus, she is cute, so that makes up for the arm chomping, right?
She was such a cute puppy! Very well groomed and very very happy to be there. Too happy
:hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
Don't beat yourself up to much Vance. I lot of that is her age. Teddy did some crazy stuff in the ring at that age too. Just having puppy fun! She'll grow out of it and with your practice and guidance she will settle down. I think most judges like to see the puppy antics for the most part. Rather that, than a puppy just plodding around the ring not having any fun. Teddy's favorite thing was to jump and reach back and grab the lead or as we were moving out around the ring, to take a chomp at my leg! 8O Thank goodness he's grown out of that stuff. (I hope! )

You did great and every time in the ring is another learning experience! Keep up the great work and remember to have fun! Caitlyn is, that's for sure!

Haha Caity is so cute! She looks like she's having such a good time.

I'm glad to hear Millie is not the only one who misbehaves in the ring. At our last show while posing for pictures with the judge, she commented on what a great puppy I had and that she just needed to "mature" 8O I took this to mean, if your puppy ever stops wiggling her bum off when touched she will do well. I can't get her to stop!

I am quite sure we will have the same issue at our next show in two weeks! I don't know if she will ever outgrow her overly happy reaction to the judge touching her. :x As I have not trained it out of her yet, I'm not sure that I really want her to. It's just her sweet personality shinning through.

Thanks for this post Vance, you just made my day.

Owen liked to sit (or lay) down during the judge's examination. Maybe roll on his back. He had an awesome time. By his third show, it was all behind him.
   Well, as Chris & I said to each other this weekend....dog shows DO keep you humble!
And a puppy match is the best place to learn this 1st hand. What we enjoyed most was having 2 new people who where interested in showing their own dogs!!!!! Couldn't you tell how :excited: we were???????
Marilyn, I could see the joy in yours and Chris's eyes while working with both Joanna and myself. I for one, (and I'm sure I share this with Joanna) cannot completely say how much we appreciate what you two did in taking time from what should have been your well deserved down time to help us neophytes. Jen and I walked out of there Friday night so fired up and wanting more wit wasn't funny. And then to come back Saturday to watch you and Chris work with your own dogs was an absolute thrill.

T anyone reading this who may think I'm just gushing like a little school girl, I probably am. But I have good reason to. If you've ever taken a serious interest in something and then have a seasoned vet work with you and talk to you like you're one of them, you know how and why I'm like this. I've had this happen to me several times in different subject matters and it's always an amazing feeling.

Thanks for being there for us.
