Book Club - The Hunger Games

Did everyone interested get the book and start reading yet? Let me know s I rad this a few weeks ago and loved it. In fact, I am just finishing the final book of the triology. We don't have to read all three. The first one, The Hunger Games, was the best one ....

I have a 14 yr old who read this last year and I was trying to read all of the books she did (to make sure she wasn't in over her head on content). I have to say...I was hooked on this book!! I read it on her Nook and it was a great read!! I am not sure why I haven't read the rest of the trilogy. I sincerely think it is because The Hunger Games hooked me so bad and I don't have time to get that hooked right now and it will frustrate me!!
It was one of those "edge of your seat" books. I had to make myself not just read the end to see what happened.... ...I am so impatient and I almost couldn't take the suspense.
We are going to the movie together and I am actually excited. I am a HUGE vampire novel fan from long ago (read Dracula at a young age...younger than I probably should have  ...and then hooked on Ann Rice in high school)....HOWEVER...tried as I might...couldn't get into Twilight Saga. BUT...I am a devoted mommy (and a sucker) and took my smitten teenager to all the Twilight premiers (after she read the books). Boy..it was not easy...lol...especially staying up all night to do each of them. 8O
However, this movie premier...we are BOTH excited for. I will pull a midnight all nighter for sure :phew:
speaking of which...I just realized I have 2 more Twilight movies to endur... At least they have gotten better each movie, so not so much dreading it like I used to.
Now see, I hate Vampire movies/books...am not at all into Twlight...Hate the usual Sci -Fi stuff...Yet this book...I don't know...I wouldn't put it in any of those catagories...There were no vampires in this book...Not even a mention of one...

After reading all three, the first one, The Hunger Games was by far the best...But we'll discuss it furhter once everyone reads it! Don't want to give anything away...
Yea...not a vampire book at all :)...sorry, guess I did kinda sound like that. lol
I guess I meant to say...I was hesitant to read it after being tricked by my teenager into Twilight (and then with all the hype)...and it's the same "young adult" aim (supposedly). But when I started reading it...I couldn't believe it. It was just that good!! I kept asking my daughter..."are you sure this is for your age group?" lol
I wouldn't call it sci-fi either...I don't know what I would call it really? It's not really fantasy...hmmm....I don't know...it's just GOOD!!!! (in my humble opinion of course...hehe)
I read all the nerdy books and just got through these 3 in about 2 weeks! They were really good and entertaining. Got a little annoyed with the political undertone and the ending wasn't the greatest but overall, I really enjoyed them

Got the new Eragon book to read now so that should keep me busy. Also read all the Twilight, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and the list goes on.
