In memory of Bentley

Bentley, my failthful companion for nearly thirteen years crossed the bridge on Wednesday evening, May 4th. It had been raining and just before he died, a large rainbow appeared in the sky, waiting for him. He's buried at the farm where my Arab horse is boarded, just above his paddock in the woods. I miss him terribly. My two cats follow me everywhere as they miss him too, Bentley lit up my life. I've travelled on contract work and Bentley always hopped on board, ready for the next adventure. Requiescat in pace.

Lynda,
Joan and I are so sorry for your loss of Bentley.

Rainbows have always held special meaning for me, so your story was especially touching to me. As I read it aloud to Joan, we were both filled with emotion.

Thanks you for sharing your wonderful story, and know that we are here and thinking about you as you grieve.
I'm so sorry for your loss....
He'll be waiting for you at the bridge.... *hugs*
Sorry for your loss.
Lynda-

I'm so very sorry to hear about Bentley, I know you must miss him so much. Although you may get another dog it could never replace him, he was so special. I hope your grieving will be replaced with happy memories and all the things that made him your Bentley.

Deeply sorry for your loss
Lynda,
Deeply moved and sorry for your loss. As I read your post, I felt a kindred spirit to you and your Bently, my Tyler is my companion too, and don't know what I will do with out him when his time is here. So know that I feel for you and grieve with you in your loss of your dearest friend.

Share your heart ache and it is divided in two and makes it an easier burden to carry!

I share with you your burden.
It is obvious Bently was loved and in return he gave himself totally to you, always wanting to be with you. Be calm knowing you two shared something truly special, something so few people in the word ever experience.

I'm so sorry for your loss. The pain does lessen a bit with time. It will be a year tomorrow since we lost our Emma. We make a special effort to remember the really happy times and funny things she did. I hope you are able to do the same and that it helps.
Take care,
Cathy
LYNDA, I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOSS. MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU

Thank you everyone for your kind messages. It is helping me to know that I have friends out there somewhere who have also suffered this loss. It's very difficult as there is there is a huge gap in the house where Bentley used to be. My two cats, Percival and Edwina are keeping me close company and don't let me out of their sight.

I have found a reputable OES breeder in BC whose puppies will be ready in mid-June and I have put my name in for a boy. The other night as I dropped off to sleep, I heard a little voice say:" Hold on, I'm growing as fast as I can".When he comes to live with us, I'll tell him stories about his "Uncle Bentley: and take him to all the places we used to walk. Bentley loved the woods. He was a great explorer.
What a sweet story. What a wonderful rememberance. Everytime you see a rainbow you can think about the joy that Bently brought to your life! I am glad to hear you are getting a puppy!!! I got my Tasker 8 years ago, very shortly after my cocker spaniel of 14 years died. Everyone told me to wait but I am glad I didn't. Tasker helped me to heal (not to forget) and made the loss more bearable. Best wishes and hugs.
Hi Lynda,

I had written you an email regarding Bentley's loss but also wanted to leave my heartfelt condolences to you here as well. No one but those of us whom have had such wonderful fourlegged family members in our home can understand the pain you are experiencing. The nodding of our heads at memories of their antics and the wistful smiles at the memories of all the wonderful things they did. Bentley will continue to live in your heart forever and your new little tyke will help ease the pain.

Bentley is now running free of pain at the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by his many friends and I'm sure they are sharing memories of us too. :O)

How perfect that he is buried at the place you board your horse (I have a horse too, but no sheepie). You can ride your horse to Bentley's place and visit with him. That way you can be with the 2 you love.

I'm sorry to hear about Bentley. Your new puppy will bring back all those wonderful memories.
