white hair turning pinkish

hiya,
both my dogs have a white stripe across their backs, and recently i have noticed that this stripe is turning pinky brown from the roots. the skin is ok, and the other white parts are still white, however, i was looking closely this morning and the black on his tail is also taking on a pinkish tinge!

there hasnt been any scratching or signs of allergies, they havent been swimming in a long time, no soreness under these areas, just changing colour!!

any experience of this pse?

Dexter developed a pink splotch on his chest, between his shoulder blades and under his ears. The splothces on his back and chest stayed near the skin and not real noticeable. The vet said it was a yeast infection. We cut beef out of his diet, started givng him probiotics and pay a lot of attention to drying him after a bath, swimming and drinking. The pink stopped developing but the stains wouldn't clean out of his hair, they had to grow out. We tried peroxide and a variety of whitening shampoos to include White-on-White.

This happened when he was about 4 months old, he's almost 11 months now and due to the stains under his ears he is just now ready to show (also with some very cautious scissor work).
