The Art of Racing in the Rain Discussion

Anyone ready to talk about our newest book, The Art of Racing in the Rain? I completed mine but noticed some others were having trouble getting it so I'll wait to hear if anyone else is ready...

I've finished but will wait for others. My friend's grandson is named Sterling, after Sterling Moss, the race car driver. I asked, "Why not Enzo?" and was told if there's another boy, that will be the name. Dad owns and works on Ferraris as a hobby. (sure a step up from building model airplanes  )

Enzo is a good name for a dog......flows nicely.
I'd like a little more time. Can we start talking about it next Sunday. I am loving the book though.
I will catch you on the next one. I just don't have the time to read this one. School has been consuming my time. I have also had 2 deaths in the last 2 weeks. Things will get better and I will have time to read again.
I just got mine yesterday, so if we could start next week, I'd prefer that.

Couple of things: it's beautifully written and it will be slower going than usual because I found just the first chapter made me cry.
diane,
gonna wait for one that won't make me cry.
my ex is driving my ferrari.
i'm emailing breeders lookin for a pup who talks w/his paws so i can name him enzo.
my neighbor bud passed this week and his beagles are barking quite abit more than usual.
just realized lookin at all these pictures that my sheepie never got to meet another sheepie.
all things considered, i'd rather be in st. lou.
:sidestep:
I'm still 2 of 2 holds at the library so don't know if I'll get it soon or not. If not, no big deal, discuss it when you're ready too. I will read it anyway and I usually read the last page on any book I read once I've figured out the characters.
  DH kids me because I too read ahead to the end......to see if the ending is worth the trouble to get there. Sometimes I'm just bored with the story and want it to end. Not this one.
Let's wait another week before we discuss. And alrady I can say, I didn't shed a tear through the whole story - although the end did get me...but all these dog books get me at the end!

Next Sunday it is! Enjoy your reading....
The first chapter made me cry, as did a few significant chapters before the end. And, of course, the end had me bawling my eyes out.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Me too Chris.
Now after hearing that some of you were crying I'm not sure I want to read it. I have a very hard time with animal stories especially if they are sad.
Ilene, it isn't really sad so to speak...I didn't shed a tear and the ending, although a little sad, is quite, well, thought invoking let's say!
No, it's not sad, but can be emotionally thought provoking.....at least for me.
OK,I got a little weepy at the end, but quickly accepted the fact.....doggies do die. It happens to us all. But the life the dog leads is amazing! and the ending, last chapter will make you cheer! I especially enjoyed Enzo's thought processes......and his solution to certain situations,

I will say I look at my guys a little different now and we have more in depth conversations.

Read the book, if you must skip the second to last chapter, but not the final one!
Done reading and ready when you guys are. Emotionally thought provoking was a good way to put it. It was an enjoyable book worth reading, if you're on the fence, I think you'd enjoy it very much.
Read the whole book Sunday--ready to discuss when everyone else is ready!
Read the book on the plane....emotional for me to read but I like reading these kinds of stories on a plane.....it keeps me from doing an "ugly cry"!!!
I loved the story and can't wait to discuss it.
Just picked up mine from the library...
